The food and wine festival in the historic center of Trento
Autumnus – Fruits of the Earth is the food and wine festival that brings the historic center of Trento, the capital of Trentino-Alto Adige, to life every October. Organized by the ProLoco Centro Storico di Trento, the event turns the city's squares and palaces into a grand showcase of Trentino's gastronomy and agricultural heritage for eleven days, featuring over 200 events including markets, tastings, meetings, workshops, in-depth discussions, show cooking, and signature dinners.
The festival spreads across the most evocative locations in the Municipality of Trento: from the Castello del Buonconsiglio to the Civic Tower, and from Piazza Duomo to Palazzo Pretorio and Piazza Cesare Battisti. The market in Piazza Mostra is the beating heart of the event, where local Trentino producers present their finest products to the public. The common thread is the local produce, food culture, and the deep bond between the city and its mountains.
Key highlights of the edition include the promotion of the Trentino Quality Brand System and the celebration of the region's native grape varieties, such as Müller-Thurgau, Teroldego, Marzemino, and Nosiola, showcased through tasting paths guided by producers and sommeliers. Alongside local stars, the festival hosts wineries from other regions and international chefs, creating a dialogue that blends Alpine identity with a European outlook.
Autumnus is more than just tastings: it is a multisensory experience made of aromas, colors, and flavors. Workshops, meetings with experts, family-friendly events, and scenic installations accompany visitors throughout the festival. The autumn season, with its harvest and freshly gathered fruits of the earth, makes Trento the ideal setting for a journey into Trentino's culinary world.
The sixth edition of Autumnus – Fruits of the Earth takes place from October 1st to 11th, 2026, in the historic center of Trento, with over 200 events including markets, tastings, workshops, show cooking, and signature dinners. The first four days coincide with the Festival of Sport (October 1-4), reinforcing Trento's role as a city of major events.
The "Autumnus Passport" debuts, an experiential format that invites the public to collect stamps by participating in tastings and experiences, while the "Autumnus Goose Game" transforms Piazza Duomo into an interactive space. The path dedicated to native grape varieties (October 9-11) offers five stations focusing on Müller-Thurgau, Teroldego, Marzemino, and Nosiola, while the Piazza Mostra market hosts the excellence of the Trentino Quality Brand.
The 2026 edition strengthens the dialogue with South Tyrol and welcomes wineries from Tuscany and Burgundy, as well as international chefs from France, Switzerland, and Morocco. The event is organized by the ProLoco Centro Storico di Trento with the support of provincial and local institutions.
The full program, including times and prices, is published from September 1st on the official website.
Trento is easily accessible by train via the Brenner railway line (Verona–Bolzano–Innsbruck) and by car via the A22 Brenner motorway, taking the Trento Nord or Trento Centro exit. The festival takes place in the historic center, which is entirely pedestrian-friendly.
Access to the squares and markets is free. Some tastings, signature dinners, workshops, and themed tours require payment or prior booking. The detailed program, including times and prices, is published on the official website in the weeks leading up to the event.
The autumn season is perfect for combining a visit to the festival with exploring the surroundings of Trento and the local wineries. We recommend booking limited-capacity events well in advance.
