A roving dinner through the historic cellars of Cembra
Caneve en Festa is one of the most evocative food and wine events in the Trentino autumn. Every October, the historic center of Cembra, in the municipality of Cembra Lisignago (Province of Trento, Trentino-Alto Adige), turns into a grand culinary trail: the caneve—ancient cellars carved into the rock and tucked into the attics of village houses—exceptionally open their doors for a roving dinner through the alleys, small squares, and corners of the village.
Guests move freely from cellar to cellar along a route in the heart of the Cembra Valley, one of the most characteristic wine-growing valleys in Trentino, famous for its terraced vineyards and mountain wines. At each stop, Cembrani DOC producers offer guided tastings of wine, sparkling wine, and grappa, paired with local dishes and regional products.
The evening is about more than just food: along the route, you will encounter alpine choirs, live folk, rock, and jazz music, and the Caneve d'Arte installations—artistic displays that bring the cellars and corners of the village to life. The result is a multisensory experience that blends gastronomy, folk culture, and landscape, with the historic center of Cembra illuminated and buzzing until late into the night.
The event offers two participation options: a version with alcoholic tastings and a reduced-price non-alcoholic version, designed for those driving or who prefer not to consume wine. Upon arrival, guests receive a wine glass with a carry-pouch to move comfortably along the entire route.
Caneve en Festa is organized by Cembrani DOC and the Val di Cembra Tourist Association, in collaboration with Apt Fiemme e Cembra. It is part of the valley's autumn food and wine calendar, often linked to festivals dedicated to Trentino's mountain wines.
The 2026 edition of Caneve en Festa will take place on Saturday, October 17, 2026, starting at 4:00 PM, in the historic center of Cembra (Cembra Valley, Trentino). Once again, the village cellars will open their doors for a roving dinner filled with wine, flavor, and tradition.
The format features a food and wine trail through historic cellars, with guided tastings of Cembrani DOC wines, sparkling wines, and grappas paired with local products (Kaiser speck, goat cheeses, porchetta, strauben, and more), accompanied by alpine choirs and live folk, rock, and jazz music. As usual, both an alcoholic and a reduced-price non-alcoholic version will be available. Detailed programs and booking procedures will be published on the Cembrani DOC website in the weeks leading up to the event.
