A festival dedicated to mountain potatoes

The Lomaso Potato Festival is one of the most cherished food and wine events in the Giudicarie region, located in the heart of western Trentino. It takes place in Dasindo, a village in the municipality of Comano Terme, in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige), centered around the headquarters of Copag - Cooperativa Produttori Agricoli Giudicariesi, a historic cooperative representing local farmers. Established at the turn of the millennium, the festival has become a highly anticipated annual tradition that draws thousands of visitors to the Lomaso Plain every autumn.

Le Montagnine, the star of the table

The absolute star of the show is the mountain potato grown in the Lomaso and Bleggio valleys, marketed under the Le Montagnine brand. These are high-altitude potatoes, cultivated using natural methods and stored without sprout-inhibiting treatments, available in both early and late varieties. Their quality, shaped by the mountain climate and soil, forms the basis of an agricultural heritage that the festival celebrates and shares with its visitors.

The Potato Trail: a journey through taste

The heart of the event is a gastronomic walking tour that winds through the villages of Lomaso. Known as 'The Potato Trail', the route starts at the Copag headquarters in Dasindo and meanders through country lanes, rural hamlets, and cultivated fields, with stops dedicated to traditional dishes:

• Departure from Dasindo, with the opening ceremony at the Copag facility;
• A stop at the ancient 'Volt' (vaulted cellars) of Vigo Lomaso for the first course;
• A stop at the 'Volti' of Campo Lomaso for the main course;
• Arrival at the Convento di Campo Lomaso for dessert.

Show cooking, markets, and art

In addition to the gastronomic walk, the festival offers show cooking sessions with chefs and producers, a farmers' and artisans' market, street performer shows on stages set up in green areas, and guided tours of the Castello di Campo Lomaso and local churches. The traditional Saturday evening gala dinner, available by reservation, kicks off the weekend's festivities.

An event of the 'Mese del Gusto'

The Lomaso Potato Festival is part of the Mese del Gusto (Month of Taste), an autumn series dedicated to the flavors and typical products of the Garda Trentino region. It is organized by Copag in collaboration with the 'Associazione Festa Agricoltura - Palio dei 7 Comuni' of Vigo Lomaso and Dasindo. It is an ideal destination for those looking to discover the authenticity of the Giudicarie valleys by combining nature, farming traditions, and fine dining.
