The vertical wine festival set among the heroic vineyards of Val di Cembra and the Pyramids of Segonzano
Dolo-Vini-Miti is a food and wine festival dedicated to vertical wines and heroic viticulture, held every autumn in the heart of the Trentino-Alto Adige region, spanning the Val di Cembra and Val di Fiemme. The event pays tribute to the terraced vineyards supported by famous dry-stone walls—over 700 kilometers of stone structures recognized as intangible heritage—which shape a unique landscape officially designated as an Italian Historic Rural Landscape. Among the festival's most iconic locations are the Earth Pyramids of Segonzano, spectacular glacial erosion columns topped with porphyry "caps," located in the municipality of Segonzano, in the province of Trento.
Here, vines climb steep slopes rising from the Avisio stream, with elevation changes exceeding 700 meters, and the harvest is still carried out by hand, shoulder to shoulder. It is the realm of mountain grape varieties: Müller Thurgau, Riesling, Pinot Noir, and Trentodoc sparkling wines—wines defined as "heroic" due to the immense effort and passion required to cultivate them. Dolo-Vini-Miti was founded in 2023 to share this identity and guide visitors, enthusiasts, and the curious through local cellars, vineyards, and flavors.
The connection to Segonzano is highlighted by guided treks that lead participants to the Earth Pyramids, one of the most evocative natural monuments in Trentino, combining hiking, scenery, and tastings of mountain wines. The village and its hamlets are part of the Cembran heroic viticulture district showcased by the festival.
The festival features over twenty events spread across the two districts. Experiences include:
Dolo-Vini-Miti is an invitation to experience the region at a slower pace: walking through the rows of vines, entering the cellars, listening to the winemakers' stories, and hiking to the Pyramids of Segonzano is the most authentic way to understand the value of these mountain wines. The event, which blends wine tourism, culture, and landscape, is promoted by the Valle di Cembra Tourist Association in partnership with APT Fiemme e Cembra.
The 2026 edition of Dolo-Vini-Miti takes place from October 11 to 20, 2026, between the Val di Cembra and Val di Fiemme in Trentino, with over twenty events dedicated to vertical wines and heroic viticulture. The festival opens on Saturday, October 11 at 6:00 PM with the conference "Wine Landscapes: Val di Cembra, Langhe, and Etna – Stories of wine lands compared between UNESCO and PRIS" at the Teatro di Verla in Giovo, with free admission.
The calendar continues with Gourmet Wine Trekking through terraced vineyards, vertical tastings of Trentodoc, Müller Thurgau, Riesling, and Pinot Noir, masterclasses with sommeliers, Caneve en festa, high-altitude aperitifs with views of the Dolomites, and evening performances. From October 15 to 19, afternoon treks are scheduled across the territory, some combined with winery visits: these include guided excursions to the Earth Pyramids of Segonzano, the festival's iconic destination. The full program, including times, wineries, and tickets, is published on the official website visitfiemme.it.
