The biennial wine festival of the Piana Rotaliana, featuring Teroldego and guest grape varieties
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Incontri Rotaliani is a biennial wine festival dedicated to Teroldego Rotaliano, the signature indigenous grape of the Piana Rotaliana, a fertile plain in Trentino nestled between the Brenta Dolomites and the Monte di Mezzocorona range. The event takes place across the towns of San Michele all'Adige, Mezzolombardo, and Mezzocorona, in the province of Trento, and is organized by the Consorzio Turistico Piana Rotaliana Königsberg ETS.
The core of every edition is the dialogue between Teroldego and a prestigious guest wine, chosen for its similarities or contrasts. Over the years, the Piana Rotaliana has hosted wines from Burgundy, Rioja, Mount Etna, and, in the most recent edition, Syrah from Cortona and the Côte-Rôtie. This comparison turns the event into a true journey of taste, where enthusiasts, sommeliers, and industry professionals can explore different territories, production styles, and aging potential.
The Piana Rotaliana is considered one of Italy's premier terroirs for producing high-quality reds. Teroldego Rotaliano, grown using the traditional pergola system, thrives here thanks to gravelly soils and an ideal microclimate. The wine experience is complemented by the cultural and gastronomic offerings of San Michele all'Adige, home to the Fondazione Edmund Mach and the Museum of Trentino Customs and Traditions, which make the area a reference point for viticultural research and training in Trentino-Alto Adige.
Incontri Rotaliani is designed for both wine lovers and professionals, offering a unique opportunity to discover Teroldego in comparison with top Italian and international wines, all set against the stunning backdrop of the Trentino mountains.
As this is a biennial event, no official dates have been announced for a 2026 edition of Incontri Rotaliani. The last edition was held on October 25-26, 2025, in the Piana Rotaliana. For information regarding the next edition's schedule and guest variety, please refer to the official channels of the Consorzio Turistico Piana Rotaliana Königsberg.
The Piana Rotaliana is easily accessible by car via the A22 Brenner motorway (take the San Michele all'Adige-Mezzocorona or Trento Nord exits). By train, the Mezzocorona-San Michele all'Adige station is served by the Brenner line and the Trento-Malé railway. The nearest airport is Verona Villafranca.
Admission to tasting tables and individual experiences (walk-around tastings, masterclasses, dinners) requires a fee, with tickets available for pre-purchase on the Piana Rotaliana Königsberg Tourist Consortium website. Spaces for masterclasses and wine labs are limited.
