The winemakers of Santo Stefano Roero showcase their soils and wines at Palarocche
Wine in Sansteu โ Soils and Wines of Santo Stefano Roero is a food and wine event that puts the spotlight on the wineries of Santo Stefano Roero, a hillside village in the province of Cuneo, in the heart of the Piedmontese Roero. Promoted by the Enoteca Regionale del Roero together with local winemakers and the municipality, the festival was created with a clear goal: to give a direct voice to the producers and share the deep bond between the soils, grape varieties, and wines of this corner of Piedmont.
Roero is one of the most fascinating wine regions in Piedmont, recognized alongside the Langhe and Monferrato as a UNESCO World Heritage wine landscape. In Santo Stefano Roero, the vineyards shape sandy hills rich in marine fossils, which give birth to Roero Arneis, a fresh and fragrant white, and Roero, an elegant red based on Nebbiolo. Wine in Sansteu focuses on these two appellations, allowing visitors to taste them directly in the presence of those who produce them.
The event's format combines education with conviviality. In the afternoon, visitors can explore the tasting area set up at the Palarocche, where local wineries pour their wines and engage with the public. This is followed by an in-depth session on the relationship between soils, grape varieties, and winemaking characteristics, featuring industry experts. The day concludes with a dinner that pairs traditional Piedmontese dishes with local wines in a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
What makes this festival unique is the involvement of the entire community of Santo Stefano Roero winemakers: small, family-run businesses that share the same terroir and come together for this occasion to present themselves to the public. It is a rare opportunity to get to know producers who often remain in the shadow of the big names of Piedmontese wine, but who guard a high-quality oenological heritage.
Wine in Sansteu is designed for wine lovers, culinary tourists, and those who want to discover the Roero region beyond the most beaten paths. It is a day that allows you to taste, understand, and experience wine as an expression of a territory and a community, in the evocative setting of the hills of Santo Stefano Roero, in the province of Cuneo.
The first edition of Wine in Sansteu was held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Palarocche in Santo Stefano Roero (CN), with an excellent turnout. Ten local wineries enlivened the day by sharing their wines and their connection to the soils of the Roero region.
The initiative, promoted by the Enoteca Regionale del Roero together with local winemakers and the municipality, confirmed the value of the shared work of an entire community of winegrowers, offering participants a family atmosphere and the opportunity to delve into the typical characteristics of Roero Arneis and Roero.
