The food and wine walking tour through the Dolcetto vineyards of Diano d'Alba
Di Sörì in Sörì is one of Piedmont's most beloved food and wine walking tours, an annual October event that draws wine and gastronomy enthusiasts to the hills of Diano d'Alba. Located in the province of Cuneo, this town overlooks the Langhe wine landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The event is organized by the I Sörì di Diano Association, which brings together the producers of the local Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba DOCG wine.
The local dialect term sörì refers to the hillside vineyards with the best sun exposure, which produce the finest grapes. In Diano d'Alba, these plots are historically demarcated and give their name to this walk: walking "di sörì in sörì" means traversing these vineyards on foot, moving from cellar to cellar while discovering the territory and the people who cultivate it.
The trail winds through the town's hills and includes six stops: the first five are hosted at the estates of member producers, while the final stop takes place at the Cantina Comunale I Sörì di Diano, on Via Umberto I. At each stage, participants taste different local wines paired with a traditional Piedmontese dish, ranging from cured meats and Fassone beef tartare to pasta, main courses, and a final dessert. The undisputed star is the Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba DOCG, accompanied by Barbera d'Alba, Nebbiolo d'Alba, Barolo, and local white wines.
To ensure the quality of the experience and protect the vineyards, the event has a limited capacity of approximately 1,500 participants, divided into staggered departure time slots. Booking is therefore essential, and tickets often sell out well in advance. Today, Di Sörì in Sörì serves as a model for slow food and wine tourism, successfully combining the discovery of the Langhe landscape with the convivial pleasure of dining.
Diano d'Alba is a Piedmontese village nestled on a panoramic ridge overlooking the valley and the nearby city of Alba. Its Dolcetto, elevated to DOCG status, is one of the most representative red wines of the Langhe: fresh, fruity, and highly drinkable, it is the perfect companion for the most authentic Piedmontese cuisine. Participating in Di Sörì in Sörì means not only tasting great wines but also getting to know a community of winemakers and a territory in the province of Cuneo that has made wine quality its true identity.
The 2026 edition of Di Sörì in Sörì will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2026, in Diano d'Alba, in the province of Cuneo. The date has been confirmed by the official tourism portal of the Langhe Monferrato Roero. As per tradition, the walk will unfold over six stages among the hillside vineyards, featuring tastings of Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba DOCG and other local wines paired with traditional Piedmontese dishes, concluding at the Cantina Comunale I Sörì.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition, including departure time slots, the list of host estates, the menu for each stage, and ticket prices, will be published by the I Sörì di Diano Association closer to the event on the official website www.soridiano.it. As this is a limited-capacity event (approximately 1,500 participants), we recommend keeping an eye on the opening of bookings.
