The great autumn event celebrating the Tuber magnatum Picco in the heart of the Langhe
When autumn arrives, Alba transforms into the world capital of the truffle. The Alba International White Truffle Fair has been the most prestigious food and wine event in Piedmont for decades and one of the most renowned in Italy: an appointment that draws enthusiasts, gourmets, chefs, and visitors from all over the world to the heart of the Langhe, all attracted by the unmistakable aroma of the Tuber magnatum Picco, the famous white truffle that grows only in a few privileged territories.
The beating heart of the event is the World Truffle Market, set up in the evocative Cortile della Maddalena in the historic center of Alba, with the entrance on Piazza Falcone. Here, the trifulau (truffle hunters) display their finest specimens under the supervision of the Quality Commission, which guarantees the authenticity and freshness of every truffle for sale. Alongside the truffles, visitors will find the great wines of the Langhe, Monferrato, and Roero, local products, and the Grand Wine Cellar curated by AIS Piedmont.
The Fair is much more than just a market. Throughout its duration, it offers a dense program of initiatives dedicated to food and wine excellence:
Among the most beloved events is the Donkey Palio, featuring a spectacular historical pageant of the city's districts in medieval costumes. It is linked to the Baccanale dei Borghi, a popular festival moment that enlivens the streets of the center. Truffle hunting, conducted by the trifulau together with his dog, is now recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity: an ancient knowledge that the Fair helps to preserve and pass on.
As the capital of the Langhe in the province of Cuneo, Alba is the ideal starting point to discover a Piedmontese territory famous worldwide for its wines—from Barolo to Barbaresco—and for its hilly vineyard landscape, declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. Visiting the Truffle Fair means immersing yourself in one of the most authentic gastronomic and cultural experiences in Italy.
The 2026 edition of the Alba International White Truffle Fair chooses the theme "Authentic Relationships", a tribute to the ancient and profound bond between the trifulau, his dog, and the white truffle — a search recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The event opens on Friday, October 9, and continues every weekend until December 6, 2026.
The World Truffle Market is open in the Cortile della Maddalena every Saturday (9:30 AM-7:30 PM, last entry 7:00 PM) and Sunday (9:30 AM-7:00 PM, last entry 6:30 PM) from October 10 to December 6.
The detailed calendar for the 2026 edition will be officially presented on July 1, 2026, at the Ferrero Auditorium of Bocconi University in Milan and subsequently published on the official website. The events that characterize the Fair every year are confirmed: cooking shows, dinners with great chefs, sensory workshops and Sensory Analysis, Alba Truffle Bimbi, masterclasses, and the folkloric section with the Donkey Palio and the Baccanale dei Borghi.
The detailed program of the 96th edition will be announced starting from the official presentation on July 1, 2026 (Ferrero Auditorium, Bocconi University, Milan) and published on the official website www.fieradeltartufo.org.
The names of the chefs and the precise dates of individual events will be communicated upon the publication of the calendar.
The Fair takes place on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) from October to early December. The World Truffle Market is open on Saturdays from 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM (last entry at 7:00 PM) and on Sundays from 9:30 AM to 7:00 PM (last entry at 6:30 PM).
