About Battuta Festival

Four days dedicated to the star of the Piedmontese table: hand-cut Fassona beef tartare. At the end of September, Caramagna Piemonte, in the province of Cuneo, transforms into the kingdom of 'albese' style raw meat, featuring the PalaBattuta tent in Piazza Castello, themed dinners, local wines, and craft beers. With concerts, DJ sets, vintage car rallies, and a historic livestock fair, the festival blends culinary excellence, rural tradition, and community celebration in honor of Beata Caterina Mattei.

A festival dedicated to Piedmontese Fassona beef

The Hand-Cut Beef Tartare Festival is the gastronomic event that brings Caramagna Piemonte to life every late September. Located in the heart of the Piedmontese plains between Carmagnola and Racconigi, this small town in the province of Cuneo celebrates its local heritage. The absolute star is the Fassona beef tartare, the prized Piedmontese cattle breed, hand-cut and prepared to order according to tradition, served in its purest form or enhanced with seasonal ingredients.

The PalaBattuta and themed dinners

The beating heart of the festival is the PalaBattuta, the dining pavilion set up by the Pro Loco in Piazza Castello, which opens every evening at 7:30 PM with a rotating daily menu. Dishes are paired with wines from local wineries and a selection of craft beers. Alongside the PalaBattuta, the Youth Group's Tavern under the Old Council Tower offers a more informal atmosphere for the evenings.

More than just food

The festival is much more than a culinary showcase: the four days are packed with concerts, DJ sets, dance parties, livestock seminars, markets, and sporting events, spread across Piazza Castello, Piazza Boetti, Piazza Umberto I, and the Polivalente center. For families, there is a funfair in Piazza Castello throughout the event.

Rural tradition and livestock fair

The event is deeply rooted in the town's agricultural history and concludes with a major commercial and livestock fair, an agricultural machinery exhibition, and a competition for Piedmontese cattleโ€”a showcase for a region that defines its identity through the quality of its meat. The festival also coincides with the celebrations for Beata Caterina Mattei, a figure dear to the Caramagna community.

A growing tradition

Established in 2023, the Hand-Cut Beef Tartare Festival has quickly become one of the most anticipated autumn food and wine events in the Carmagnola and Cuneo areas, attracting visitors from all over Piedmont to celebrate a true icon of regional cuisine.
