A festival dedicated to the cicero potato

The Potato Festival is one of the most beloved gastronomic events on the Vigolana Plateau, in the province of Trento, in the heart of Trentino. Every summer, the village of Vigolo Vattaro dedicates three full days to the cicero potato, a local variety cultivated since the early 20th century on the plateau at about 700 meters above sea level, known as the 'mid-mountain potato'. It is a signature product that, thanks to the soil and climate of the Vigolana area, develops a unique flavor and texture, which are showcased during the festival.

A 100% Vigolana potato menu

The heart of the event is the famous 'patamenù', a menu designed entirely around the Vigolana potato, which changes daily. Among the most popular dishes are parsley potatoes with melted cheese, the traditional tortei di patate served with cold cuts and cured meats, and potato polenta with sausage accompanied by 'fasoi en bronzon' (beans). There is also potato bread and the sale of fresh Vigolana potatoes, which visitors can purchase directly to take a piece of the plateau home with them.

Music, entertainment, and community

The festival takes place in the Caolorine event area, inside a covered structure that allows visitors to enjoy the event in any weather. Alongside the gastronomic offerings, the program features live music, DJ sets, comedy shows, and dance evenings, as well as numerous children's activities throughout the festival days. It is a deeply community-driven event: it is organized by the Pro Loco of Vigolo Vattaro, together with over seventy volunteers from local associations, including the drama group, hunters, and the fire brigade.

A local event

More than just a simple food festival, the Potato Festival is a moment of identity for the entire Vigolana community: an opportunity to share the agricultural history of the plateau, promote a humble product that has become a symbol of the territory, and bring residents and tourists together around the table. Included in the 'E...State in Vigolana' summer calendar, it is one of the must-see events for those visiting the Vigolana Plateau in the heart of the Trentino summer.
