Mountain farming and the forgotten leek take center stage in Nosellari

The Mountain Agriculture Festival, better known as Nosellari Leek Day, is an autumn event held in Nosellari, a small hamlet in the municipality of Folgaria on the Alpe Cimbra, in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). Launched in 2018 by the Pro Loco Nosellari-Oltresommo, the event has grown with each edition, evolving from a simple village fair into a true celebration of high-altitude life and farming.
The undisputed star of the day is the Nosellari leek, a local variety that was long forgotten and brought back to life thanks to the patient restoration work of the Pro Loco and local farmers. Today, this delicately flavored vegetable has become the symbol of the hamlet and gives the entire event its name. Alongside the leek, another local excellence takes center stage: the Cimbrian Cardoncello mushroom (also known as "Draghebrise"), a fungus typical of the highlands.
The heart of the day is the Slow Food Earth Market, which brings together small local producers offering cheeses, vegetables, preserves, and zero-kilometer products. A highlight is the convivial leek-themed lunch (by reservation), featuring traditional dishes such as leek and pumpkin lasagna, polenta with Cimbrian Cardoncello, and apple pie. Throughout the day, visitors can also watch cheesemaking demonstrations.
More than just a gastronomic festival, Nosellari Leek Day is an opportunity to rediscover the rural culture of the Cimbrian Highlands and the value of mountain farming, defined by hard work, biodiversity, and a deep connection to the landscape. A sober and genuine event that attracts families, hikers, and curious visitors to an authentic corner of Trentino.
The Mountain Agriculture Festival — Nosellari Leek Day returns in 2026 to Nosellari, a hamlet of Folgaria on the Alpe Cimbra, in the province of Trento. The official dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced by the Pro Loco Nosellari-Oltresommo: following the tradition of previous years, the event is expected to take place in October. The program will be published as soon as it becomes available.
