The artisan Christmas market on the Vigolana Plateau
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
«Artigiani a Bosentino – The Christmas Market» is one of the most cherished Christmas events on the Vigolana Plateau, in the municipality of Altopiano della Vigolana, in the Autonomous Province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). For over twenty years, around the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, the village sports hall in Bosentino transforms into a warm and welcoming showcase of local craftsmanship and traditions. The event is organized by the Pro Loco Altopiano della Vigolana with the support of local volunteers and associations.
The heart of the market lies in its strictly handmade goods: ceramics, embroidery, wood carvings, jewelry, and small creations made by artisans and hobbyists from the Vigolana area. Alongside the craft stalls, local agricultural producers offer the genuine flavors of the Trentino mountains. It is a perfect opportunity to find original gifts while supporting the economy and creativity of a small alpine community.
During the market days, there is no shortage of traditional gastronomy — canederli, spätzle, and the afternoon snacks that define the day — as well as live music and workshops for children, with the comet star serving as the symbol of Christmas on the Plateau. The most anticipated moment is the Krampus Parade: unsettling figures with hand-carved masks, goat skins, wooden clogs, and menacing horns that march through the village in a procession of fire, noise, and mystery, following an ancient alpine tradition.
Part of the Christmas calendar for the Alpe Cimbra area, «Artigiani a Bosentino» offers residents and tourists the chance to experience an authentic and convivial Christmas, far from the frenzy of large city markets. The setting of the Vigolana Plateau, nestled among the woods and mountains of Trentino, adds charm to an event that unites tradition, community, and tourism.
The 2026 edition of «Artigiani a Bosentino» is scheduled, as every year, during the Christmas period in December at the Sports Hall of Bosentino, in the municipality of Altopiano della Vigolana (Trentino). Dates and the program for the 2026 edition have not yet been published: we are awaiting confirmation from the Pro Loco Altopiano della Vigolana. As in previous editions, handmade crafts, local producers, mountain gastronomy, live music, children's workshops, and the traditional Krampus Parade are expected. For updated information, it is recommended to consult the official channels of Alpe Cimbra and Visit Trentino.
Bosentino is located on the Vigolana Plateau, in the municipality of Altopiano della Vigolana (TN), about 20 km from Trento. By car, it can be reached from the Valsugana (SS47) by heading up toward the plateau; by train, the reference station is Trento, with connections via local bus.
The market is open from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Admission is free.
Warm clothing is recommended: the plateau is at a high altitude. Don't miss the afternoon snacks and the Krampus Parade. For the 2026 edition, it is advisable to check dates and programs on the Pro Loco Altopiano della Vigolana channels, as well as on alpecimbra.it and visittrentino.info.
