The FIPSAS Provincial Lake Trout Championship is the competitive lake trout fishing season organized by the Italian Federation of Sport Fishing and Underwater Activities (FIPSAS) of Trento, held at the Lago Stefy in Novaledo, in the heart of Valsugana. The rounds are coordinated by A.S.D. Aquile 2002, a FIPSAS-affiliated club particularly active in promoting lake trout fishing across the province.

Categories and rounds

The championship is divided into several categories competing throughout the season, from spring to autumn. The following rounds of the 2026 provincial calendar are held at Lago Stefy in Novaledo:

• Pairs: Round 1 (April) and Round 3 (October) at Lago Stefy, with an intermediate round at Lago Smeraldo in Fondo.
• Team (Box): Round 1 (April) and Round 2 (September) at Lago Stefy, with the final round at Due Laghi.
• Individual: The final round in October takes place at Lago Stefy.
• Amateur Promotional: A category dedicated to enthusiasts, with a calendar paired with the individual one.

The discipline of lake trout fishing

Lake trout fishing with natural bait is a technical and regulated specialty: each competitor uses a single rod, and only natural baits such as wax worms and earthworms are permitted. Baiting and artificial lures are prohibited, and only trout catches count toward the ranking. The "team" and "pairs" formats test the consistency and precision of competitors across the various heats.

Lago Stefy

Lago Stefy, managed by SSD Green Lake, is a sport fishing lake nestled in the greenery of Novaledo, stocked with rainbow and salmon trout. The facility features a bar, ample parking, and a children's play area, as well as a second, smaller pond with rod rentals designed to introduce younger people to the world of fishing. The facility is generally open from spring to autumn and is one of the reference venues for Trentino's competitive lake trout scene.

The provincial championship rounds transform Lago Stefy into a meeting point for anglers and enthusiasts from all over the province of Trento and beyond. In 2026, the lake's calendar is further enriched by the 1st AiCS National Lake Trout Team Championship, scheduled for July 4th and 5th, confirming Novaledo's status as a hub for major fishing events in Trentino-Alto Adige.
