A widespread cultural festival in the Alpe Cimbra featuring circus, cinema, hiking, and music
Alpitudini is a widespread cultural festival held across the Alpe Cimbra, the vast plateau connecting the towns of Folgaria, Lavarone, and Luserna in the Province of Trento, in the heart of the Trentino-Alto Adige region. Conceived and curated by the association Superflùo - dissonanze creative and promoted by the Magnifica Comunità degli Altipiani Cimbri, the festival weaves together contemporary circus, open-air cinema, guided hikes, and live music, spreading events across mountain pastures, forts, forests, and town squares. The name itself encapsulates three dimensions of the alpine experience: altitude, attitude, and solitude.
In Luserna-Lusérn, the smallest and most characteristic of the plateau's Cimbrian towns—where the ancient Cimbrian language is still spoken—Alpitudini finds one of its most evocative settings. The village hosts solar-powered cinema at the Baita del Neff and narrated walks along the Sentiero Cimbro dell'Immaginario, a trail dotted with wooden installations that recount the legends and traditions of Cimbrian culture amidst meadows, forests, and a small lake.
The program unfolds throughout the summer with a multidisciplinary structure:
Alpitudini was born with a sustainable and participatory vocation: all events are free, but booking is required to ensure the best experience in these fragile natural settings. The festival celebrates Cimbrian identity and the cultural heritage of Luserna and the Cimbrian Plateau, offering residents and visitors a different way to experience the Trentino mountains, far from mass tourism and close to the communities that inhabit them.
The third edition of Alpitudini brings the Alpe Cimbra to life from July 3 to September 12, 2026, with a widespread calendar across Folgaria, Lavarone, and Luserna, curated by Superflùo and promoted by the Magnifica Comunità degli Altipiani Cimbri.
In the Cimbrian town of Luserna, the 2026 program includes:
In addition to the Luserna stops, the 2026 edition features contemporary circus by Théâtre Circulaire (July 3-5 at Parco Palù in Lavarone), solar-powered cinema screenings (July 9-23 between Serrada, Luserna, and Forte Belvedere in Lavarone), a series of guided hikes (July 10-24), and final concerts with The Rumpled and I Luf.
Luserna can be reached by car from the A22 Brenner motorway (take the Trento Nord or Rovereto Nord exit), driving up the Alpe Cimbra through Lavarone. The nearest train station is Trento, which is connected by regional buses.
All Alpitudini events are free but require mandatory booking. Hikes usually start in the morning (around 9:00 AM) from the main square in Luserna; solar-powered cinema screenings take place in the evening at the Baita del Neff. Information is available at the Alpe Cimbra Tourist Board (Azienda per il Turismo Alpe Cimbra Folgaria Lavarone Luserna).
For hikes, we recommend trekking shoes, layered clothing, and water. At high altitudes, evening temperatures can be cool even in summer.
