About Alpitudini

Alpitudini is a widespread cultural festival in the Alpe Cimbra that brings the towns of Folgaria, Lavarone, and Luserna to life every summer with contemporary circus, open-air cinema, guided hikes, and concerts. In Luserna-Lusérn, a small Cimbrian town in the Province of Trento, the program features solar-powered cinema at the Baita del Neff and narrated walks along the Sentiero Cimbro dell'Immaginario, allowing visitors to experience the mountains through nature, art, and the identity of the Cimbrian Plateau communities.

Alpitudini: culture living in the mountains

Alpitudini is a widespread cultural festival held across the Alpe Cimbra, the vast plateau connecting the towns of Folgaria, Lavarone, and Luserna in the Province of Trento, in the heart of the Trentino-Alto Adige region. Conceived and curated by the association Superflùo - dissonanze creative and promoted by the Magnifica Comunità degli Altipiani Cimbri, the festival weaves together contemporary circus, open-air cinema, guided hikes, and live music, spreading events across mountain pastures, forts, forests, and town squares. The name itself encapsulates three dimensions of the alpine experience: altitude, attitude, and solitude.

Luserna, the Cimbrian heart of the festival

In Luserna-Lusérn, the smallest and most characteristic of the plateau's Cimbrian towns—where the ancient Cimbrian language is still spoken—Alpitudini finds one of its most evocative settings. The village hosts solar-powered cinema at the Baita del Neff and narrated walks along the Sentiero Cimbro dell'Immaginario, a trail dotted with wooden installations that recount the legends and traditions of Cimbrian culture amidst meadows, forests, and a small lake.

Circus, cinema, hiking, and music

The program unfolds throughout the summer with a multidisciplinary structure:

  • Contemporary circus: clowning, acrobatics, and live music shows, with workshops dedicated to children.
  • Solar-powered open-air cinema: screenings powered by a mobile photovoltaic system and listened to via wireless headphones, featuring documentaries and family films in some of the most beautiful spots of the Alpe Cimbra.
  • Guided hikes: walks accompanied by alpine guides and guests from the worlds of cinema, photography, and the arts, to discover the territory with a fresh perspective.
  • Live music: concerts ranging from strings to folk-rock, hosted in mountain huts and outdoor spaces.

A free and sustainable festival

Alpitudini was born with a sustainable and participatory vocation: all events are free, but booking is required to ensure the best experience in these fragile natural settings. The festival celebrates Cimbrian identity and the cultural heritage of Luserna and the Cimbrian Plateau, offering residents and visitors a different way to experience the Trentino mountains, far from mass tourism and close to the communities that inhabit them.

Alpitudini — edition 2026
