The Marzemino festival in the heart of the Vallagarina valley

La Vigna Eccellente is the most anticipated food and wine event of the autumn in Isera, a small town in the Vallagarina valley in the province of Trento, Trentino-Alto Adige. Every year, at the beginning of October, the historic village transforms into a stage of colors, aromas, and flavors entirely dedicated to Marzemino, the signature red wine of this corner of southern Trentino.

Marzemino, an operatic wine

Marzemino d'Isera is one of the most famous and ancient wines of Trentino: its fame is also linked to its mention in Mozart's Don Giovanni, which made it a symbol of convivial elegance. In Isera, this grape variety finds one of its most refined expressions, thanks to basaltic soils and centuries-old viticultural traditions. The event was created specifically to showcase this heritage, fostering dialogue between wineries, producers, and enthusiasts.

The Festival of Courtyards and Producers

The heart of the event is the Festival of Courtyards and Producers: during the evenings, the grand historic doors of the village's houses and palaces are opened and decorated, offering visitors evocative settings to taste Marzemino accompanied by local dishes and traditional recipes. It is a widespread route through the streets of Isera that combines gastronomy, conviviality, and the discovery of the rural architecture of the Vallagarina.

Tastings, culture, and community

The program of La Vigna Eccellente complements the festive atmosphere with numerous cultural initiatives:

• Guided tastings with local producers and wineries;
• The "Marzemino Ambassador" course, designed to train individuals capable of sharing the deep connection between the vine and the territory;
• Conferences and in-depth meetings in the village's historic palaces, dedicated to viticulture and landscape conservation;
• Live music along the streets of the town center;
• Traditional popular moments such as the vintage tractor parade and the blessing of agricultural machinery, followed by a communal lunch in the square.

A local event

La Vigna Eccellente is promoted by the Producers' Cooperative together with the Municipality of Isera and the ApT Rovereto Vallagarina and Monte Baldo, with the collaboration of local entities. More than just a wine festival, it is an opportunity to experience the Trentino autumn among vineyards, historic villages, and authentic flavors, just a few kilometers from Rovereto and Lake Garda.
