About Gusta e Vai

Gusta e Vai is a scenic food and wine walking tour through the hamlets of Commezzadura, in the heart of Val di Sole (Trentino). From breakfast to afternoon snacks, participants wander through Deggiano, Mastellina, Mestriago, Piano, Daolasa, and Almazzago, sampling traditional Trentino flavors at every stop. The day concludes at the Parco Fluviale with desserts, digestifs, and live music. Organized by the Pro Loco Commezzadura, the event returned in 2024 after a fifteen-year hiatus.

A journey through the flavors of Val di Sole

Gusta e Vai is a food and wine walking tour that winds through the charming hamlets of the Commezzadura municipality, located in Val di Sole, in the heart of the Autonomous Province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). The concept is simple yet engaging: walk from one village to the next, stopping at each stage to savor a dish or a specialty of the traditional Trentino culinary heritage, from breakfast all the way to the afternoon snack.

The route, stop by stop

The trail connects the village hamlets in sequence, each offering a specific gastronomic treat served during a set time frame:

  • Deggiano — the starting point, featuring breakfast with bread and jam, yogurt with blueberries ("baghe"), and "café de orz" (barley coffee);
  • Mastellina — an aperitif with "pan e companadec" (bread and local cured meats);
  • Mestriago — a second tasting featuring local cheese, honey, and jam;
  • Piano — lunch with canederli, the iconic dish of mountain cuisine;
  • Daolasa — a refreshing break with sorbet;
  • Almazzago — polenta served with "pocio," the traditional Trentino gravy;
  • Parco Fluviale — the grand finale with desserts, digestifs, and live music.

Final celebration at the Parco Fluviale

The day culminates at the Parco Fluviale in Commezzadura, where walkers gather for an afternoon snack, a final toast, and live music in a beautiful riverside setting. It is the most social moment of the event, designed for families, hikers, and food lovers alike.

A long-awaited return

Gusta e Vai is an event with a rich history: after a hiatus of over fifteen years, it made a comeback in 2024, reviving a tradition deeply cherished by the local community. The initiative is organized by the Pro Loco Commezzadura, which manages hospitality, bookings, and the logistics of the stops along the route. A free shuttle bus service, available upon reservation, makes it easy for participants to move between the hamlets.

Why attend

Gusta e Vai is the perfect opportunity to discover the authentic soul of Val di Sole: a mountain region where fine food, tradition, and landscape intertwine. Walking among the mountain huts and hamlets of Commezzadura, you can experience true Trentino hospitality and taste dishes that tell the story of the valley's culinary history. It is a genuine, understated event suitable for all ages.
