About Pomaria

Pomaria is the major harvest festival celebrating the PDO Val di Non apple, the heart of Trentino's apple-growing region. As a traveling event that changes host town every year, the 2026 edition marks its 20th anniversary, returning to the medieval village of Casez, part of the municipality of Sanzeno in the province of Trento. Enjoy two days of farmers' markets, food stalls, tastings, workshops, and family activities, all with free admission.

Pomaria, the PDO Val di Non Apple Festival

Pomaria is the most anticipated autumn event in the Val di Non, the valley that stands as the heart of Italian apple cultivation and home to the famous PDO Val di Non Apple, the first in Europe to receive the prestigious PDO status. Organized by the Apple and Flavors Route of the Non and Sole Valleys, the event celebrates the apple harvest with two days of markets, tastings, workshops, and rural culture, bringing together local producers, artisans, and restaurateurs from across the Trentino region.

A traveling festival through the valley's villages

What makes Pomaria unique is its traveling nature: every year, the festival changes host town, moving between the villages of the Val di Non to showcase a different village and its local excellence each time. In 2026, for its 20th anniversary, the festival returns to the medieval village of Casez, a hamlet of the municipality of Sanzeno, in the province of Trento and the Trentino-Alto Adige region. Nestled at an altitude of 693 meters in the north-central part of the valley, Casez is one of the most beautiful villages in Trentino, dominated by the ancient Castel Casez, and has hosted Pomaria since its inaugural edition in 2005.

What to experience at Pomaria

The Pomaria program blends taste, nature, and tradition. Among the experiences offered along the streets and squares of the village:

  • Farmers' market featuring the excellence of Trentino's Flavor Routes: apples, cheeses, cured meats, wines, craft beers, fruit, vegetables, honey, herbal teas, and medicinal herbs;
  • Food stalls with traditional valley cuisine and a wine bar;
  • Tastings and workshops for adults, ranging from traditional dishes to sensory journeys, with cooking classes led by local chefs;
  • Guided tours of the orchards and castles of the Val di Non;
  • Large area dedicated to children and families, with educational workshops, theatrical performances, pedal tractors, games, and a family space for nursing and changing.

A symbol of the Trentino territory

More than just a festival, Pomaria has become an iconic event over the years that tells the story of the deep bond between the Val di Non and its apple, a symbol of mountain agriculture focused on quality and tradition. Strolling through the streets of a village in celebration, tasting local products, and meeting the producers is the best way to understand the soul of this Trentino valley.

Pomaria — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of Pomaria, the 20th in its history, will be held on Saturday, October 17th and Sunday, October 18th in the medieval village of Casez, a hamlet of Sanzeno, in the Val di Non. For its twentieth anniversary, the PDO apple harvest festival offers a farmers' market, food stalls, tastings, workshops, and a large area for children and families, with free admission. The detailed program with times and appointments is currently being defined by the organizers.

The 20th edition of Pomaria will take place on October 17 and 18, 2026 in Casez, a village in the municipality of Sanzeno, in the Val di Non. To celebrate the twentieth anniversary, the Apple and Flavors Route of the Non and Sole Valleys confirms the formula that made the event famous: a farmers' market with apples, cheeses, cured meats, wines, and craft beers, food stalls, tastings, cooking classes with local chefs, and a large area dedicated to children. The edition is preceded by the summer events "Waiting for Pomaria" in the valley's municipalities.
