About Pomaria

Pomaria is the grand harvest festival celebrating the PDO Apple of Val di Non, the heart of apple production in Trentino. As a traveling event that changes host towns each year, the 2025 edition was held for the first time in the Renaissance village of Denno, in the province of Trento. The two-day event featured farmers' markets, tastings, cooking workshops, orchard walks, and family activities, with free admission and shuttle buses from parking areas.

Pomaria, the Val di Non PDO Apple Festival

Pomaria is the most anticipated autumn event in Val di Non, the valley that serves as the heart of Italian apple growing and the home of the famous PDO Apple of Val di Non. Organized by the Apple and Flavors Route of the Val di Non and Val di Sole, the festival celebrates the apple harvest with two days of markets, tastings, performances, and rural culture, bringing together local producers, artisans, and restaurateurs from across Trentino.

A traveling festival through the valley's villages

The unique feature of Pomaria is its traveling nature: every year the festival changes host towns, moving between the villages of Val di Non to showcase a different location and its local excellence each time. For its nineteenth edition in 2025, the festival chose the Renaissance village of Denno for the first time, located in the Lower Val di Non, in the province of Trento and the Trentino-Alto Adige region. Nestled among the apple orchards on the right bank of the Noce stream, halfway between Mezzolombardo and Cles, Denno welcomed thousands of visitors to its streets and squares.

What to experience at Pomaria

The Pomaria program combines taste, nature, and tradition. Highlights include:

  • Farmers' markets featuring local producers and the best of the Trentino Flavors Routes: apples, cheeses, cured meats, wines, craft beers, honey, and medicinal herbs;
  • Guided tastings of various PDO Apple varieties, including heirloom apples;
  • Traditional cooking workshops dedicated to valley dishes, such as canederli, strudel, and "smalzadi";
  • Orchard walks with the Melatour, a colorful tractor that takes visitors to discover the orchards and the farmers' work;
  • Activities for children and families, performances, animated readings, and art trails through local artists' studios.

A symbol of the Trentino territory

More than just a festival, Pomaria has become an iconic event over the years that tells the story of the deep bond between Val di Non and its apple, a symbol of mountain agriculture focused on quality and tradition. Strolling through the streets of a village in celebration, tasting zero-kilometer products, and meeting the producers is the best way to understand the soul of this Trentino valley.

Pomaria — edition 2026

Pomaria is a traveling event that changes host towns in Val di Non every year. There is no plan for the festival to return to Denno in 2026, as it hosted the 2025 edition; the date for a potential new Pomaria event in Denno has not yet been announced. Those looking for the 2026 Trentino edition should follow the official channels of the Apple Route to find out the designated town and dates.

Pomaria is a traveling festival: every year it moves to a different town in Val di Non. The village of Denno hosted the 2025 edition and, as it is a rotating event, there is no new event planned for Denno in 2026. The dates for a possible return of the festival to Denno have not yet been announced. To find out the location and program of the most recent Trentino edition, it is recommended to consult the official website www.pomaria.org and the channels of the Val di Non Tourist Board.
