A gourmet stroll on the Alpe Cimbra

Degustando l'Oltresommo is one of the most beloved food and wine walking tours on the Alpe Cimbra plateau, located in the municipality of Folgaria, in the province of Trento and the Trentino-Alto Adige region. Every year in mid-July, the event invites families, trekking enthusiasts, and food lovers to explore the Oltresommo area through an itinerary dedicated to the flavours, traditions, and landscapes of the Trentino mountains.

The route along the Water Trail

The trail spans approximately 11 kilometres along the picturesque Water Trail, which passes by ancient mills and sawmills that stand as testaments to the plateau's rural heritage. The walk starts in the village of San Sebastiano, a hamlet of Folgaria, and finishes in Nosellari. The route is easy, mostly flat or gently downhill, making it suitable for everyone, including families with children. It can be comfortably completed in four to five hours, including gourmet stops.

The Gourmet Points

The heart of the event lies in the Punti Goderecci, the tasting stations set up along the route where participants can sample local products made exclusively on the Alpe Cimbra. Specialties include mountain pasture cheeses, speck and cured meats, toasted polenta, spätzle, local Cimbra flatbread, mountain honey, and regional wines, all accompanied by convivial moments and traditional dishes.

It is a journey into the past that reveals the authentic soul of the Oltresommo and its community.

A Pro Loco event

The event is organised by the Pro Loco Nosellari-Oltresommo APS, with the support of the Alpe Cimbra Folgaria Lavarone Luserna Vigolana Tourism Board. This summer gathering has become a consolidated tradition for Folgaria and the entire plateau, successfully blending gastronomy, nature, and the promotion of local rural culture.
