The Alpe Cimbra itinerant festival featuring circus, cinema, hiking, and music
Alpitudini is a travelling cultural festival that traverses the Cimbrian Plateaus in the heart of Trentino-Alto Adige, hosting events across the municipalities of Lavarone, Folgaria, and Luserna. Established in 2024, it is promoted by the Magnifica Comunità degli Altipiani Cimbri with artistic direction by Superflùo – dissonanze creative, in collaboration with the three municipalities, the Alpe Cimbra Tourist Board, and the Lavarone Library.
The festival's name plays on three dimensions of the mountain experience: altitude, as a physical challenge and discovery; attitude, as a way of inhabiting and traversing these places; and solitude, understood as a space for listening and contemplation. From this idea comes a multidisciplinary program that weaves together performing arts, cinema, nature, and live music.
The festival's formula alternates between different genres and styles. Contemporary circus opens the event with clowning, acrobatics, and live music, often hosted in the greenery of Parco Palù in Lavarone. The zero-impact open-air cinema offers evening screenings powered by a mobile photovoltaic system and enjoyed via wireless headphones, featuring documentaries, family films, and works about the Alpine territory, often with directors and authors in attendance.
Guided hikes, accompanied by mountain guides alongside guests from the worlds of cinema, photography, and natural sciences, allow visitors to interpret the landscape of the Plateaus from unique perspectives. The calendar is completed by meetings, animated readings for children, theatrical performances in nature, and concerts, which often find a home in Lavarone, between Forte Belvedere, the Drago Vaia park, and the open-air art areas.
Alpitudini stands out for its commitment to making all events free upon reservation and its focus on environmental sustainability, from solar-powered cinema to the enhancement of trails and forests regenerated after the Vaia storm. Today, the festival represents one of the key cultural events of the summer on the Alpe Cimbra, capable of uniting the local community, tourists, and artists in a dialogue with the mountains.
The 2026 edition of Alpitudini kicks off from July 3 to 5 at Parco Palù in Lavarone with the Théâtre Circulaire, featuring clowning, acrobatics, and live music, along with a workshop dedicated to children. Following this, from July 9 to 23, is the zero-impact open-air cinema series: three evenings powered by a mobile photovoltaic system and enjoyed via wireless headphones, held at locations in Serrada, Luserna, and the Forte Belvedere in Lavarone, which will host the documentary Fémene on July 23, dedicated to the women of the Trentino mountains, in the presence of director Elena Goatelli.
From July 10 to 24, three half-day cultural hikes (from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM) will take place, accompanied by a mountain guide and guests from the worlds of cinema and photography, departing from Lavarone, Luserna, and Folgaria. The festival concludes with two musical events: a string quartet concert at Malga Laghetto on August 22, and a concert by Cisco (formerly the voice of Modena City Ramblers) at the Palaghiaccio in Folgaria on September 12.
All events of the 2026 edition are free upon reservation.
