The hunters' festival in the heart of the Vallagarina

The Cazador Festival is a summer event where the hunters of Terragnolo celebrate their traditions. Located in the scattered municipality of Vallagarina, at the foot of Mount Pasubio in the province of Trento, in the heart of Trentino-Alto Adige, the event takes place in the Piazza district, the administrative hub of a valley dotted with dozens of small farming hamlets.

The origins of the festival

The first edition was held on July 15, 2017, promoted by the Terragnolo Hunters' Section together with the Trentino Hunters' Association and supported by the municipal administration. From the outset, the festival aimed to showcase the local hunting culture, the deep bond between the community and its woods, and the role of hunters in managing the wildlife heritage of the Trentino mountains.

The flavors of game

The heart of the festival is its cuisine. The menu offers typical mountain dishes, with polenta and venison as the signature course, accompanied by sauerkraut, cured meats, alpine cheeses, beans, and fried potatoes. Draft beer, wine, and local products are served in a highly convivial atmosphere under the marquee set up for the occasion.

Music, tradition, and the hunting world

Alongside the culinary offerings, the event features the hunter's aperitif, live music with bands performing songs in the Trentino dialect, and moments dedicated to hunting, such as dog trials that showcase the work of the dogs and the relationship between the hunter and the territory. It is an authentic village festival where families from Terragnolo and visitors from neighboring valleys gather for a community evening.

A territory to discover

The Cazador Festival is also an opportunity to explore the Val Terragnolo, a land of forests, trails, and remnants of the Great War on the nearby Pasubio. Visitors can combine the festival with a walk through the hamlets or a hike on the plateaus of Folgaria and Lavarone, immersing themselves in the genuine atmosphere of the Trentino mountains.
