Autumn flavors in Volterra, featuring prized white truffles, Etruscan traditions, and the tastes of the Upper Val di Cecina
Volterragusto is the autumn event that transforms the historic center of Volterra, in the Province of Pisa, into the culinary capital of the Upper Val di Cecina every year. The heart of the event is the White Truffle Market Exhibition, dedicated to the prized Tuber magnatum pico that grows in the woods and hills surrounding this Etruscan city, one of Tuscany's most sought-after gastronomic treasures.
Perched on a hill overlooking the Val di Cecina, Volterra is one of the most fascinating art cities in Tuscany: Etruscan walls, the Roman Theatre, handcrafted alabaster, and a medieval center dominated by Piazza dei Priori. During Volterragusto, this unique setting becomes a natural stage for tasting stalls, workshops, and meetings, offering visitors an experience that combines the pleasures of the table with the discovery of extraordinary historical heritage.
Volterragusto is not just a food festival: the event intertwines truffles with the art, history, and traditions of the Upper Val di Cecina. Between literary awards, visits to Etruscan and Roman monuments, craft markets, and entertainment, the event tells the story of a territory where food culture is inseparable from the landscape and the millenary history of Volterra.
The event is traditionally held over the last weekends of October and the All Saints' Day long weekend, spanning two long weekends. The 2026 edition, the 28th, is scheduled for October 24-25 and from October 31 to November 1, 2026.
