About Mercantico

Mercantico is the monthly antiques, vintage, and artisan craft market that brings the historic center of Cascina, in the province of Pisa, to life every first Sunday of the month. Organized by the Pro Loco since 1999, the event gathers around 170 exhibitors along Corso Matteotti, featuring period furniture, collectibles, books, prints, ceramics, and vintage clothing. A staple event for collectors, curious visitors, and fans of beautiful, one-of-a-kind finds.

A market that brings the center of Cascina to life

Every first Sunday of the month, the historic center of Cascina, an important town in the Province of Pisa in the heart of Tuscany, transforms into a large open-air market. Mercantico occupies the entire Corso Matteotti with around 170 stalls from exhibitors coming from all over the region and beyond, creating one of the longest-running and most popular antique fairs in the Pisan territory.

What you will find among the stalls

The selection is wide and varied, designed for both the expert collector and those simply looking for the right object to give a new life. Strolling through the stalls, you will encounter:

  • period furniture, home decor, and ornaments;
  • antiques and vintage items;
  • books, comics, prints, and old musical media (records and vinyl);
  • ceramics, porcelain, and various trinkets;
  • artisan crafts and vintage clothing;
  • collector's items and vintage curiosities.

A tradition since 1999

Established in 1999 by the Pro Loco of Cascina, the event has grown over time to become a highly anticipated date for enthusiasts from all over Tuscany. The market takes place every first Sunday of the month, from 9:00 AM until evening, with a summer break during the hottest months (July, August, and usually September). However, the calendar also includes extraordinary editions: in 2026, a special Easter Monday event is scheduled for April 6th, along with a confirmed edition on Sunday, October 4th.

More than just stalls

During Mercantico, the Museum of the Workers' Society for Wood and Trades also opens its doors, dedicated to the historic artisan and furniture-making vocation of Cascina. The day thus becomes the ideal opportunity to combine the search for a rare piece with a stroll through the historic center, among the town's shops, bars, and restaurants.

Cascina and its wood tradition

For centuries, Cascina has been a reference point in Tuscany for woodworking and furniture production: Mercantico is, in a way, its natural expressionโ€”a place where antique objects and craftsmanship meet to tell the story and identity of this territory in the Province of Pisa.

Mercantico โ€” edition 2026

In 2026, Mercantico returns to Cascina every first Sunday of the month along Corso Matteotti, with about 170 exhibitors of antiques, vintage items, and artisan crafts. The summer break during the hottest months is confirmed, along with two extraordinary events: the special Easter Monday edition on April 6th and the edition on Sunday, October 4th.

For 2026, the Pro Loco of Cascina confirms the schedule for Mercantico, the monthly antiques and vintage market held on the first Sunday of every month on Corso Matteotti, from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

Among the dates to mark on your calendar is the extraordinary Easter Monday edition on April 6, 2026, which will take place on Corso Matteotti and Piazza dei Caduti, as well as the confirmed event on Sunday, October 4, 2026. As per tradition, the market observes a summer break during the months of July, August, and September. During market days, the Museum of the Workers' Society for Wood and Trades remains open for visitors.
