The historic autumn celebration of Maremma wild boar in the village of Riparbella
The Riparbella Wild Boar Festival is one of the most beloved autumn events in the Pisan hills. Organized by the Pro Loco Riparbella in the municipality of Riparbella, in the heart of Tuscany, the festival has been ushering in the winter season for decades with the intense flavors of Maremma cuisine. The event traditionally takes place over two weekends in November, from Friday to Sunday, and in 2026 it marks its 54th edition, a testament to the continuity that makes it a true local heritage.
At the heart of the event is the wild boar, prepared according to rustic recipes passed down through generations. Under the heated marquee of Parco Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa, Pro Loco volunteers prepare a rich and generous menu that includes:
The dishes are perfectly complemented by wines from the Pisan hills, an expression of a territory dedicated to quality viticulture.
The Wild Boar Festival is also a celebration for the entire town. Evenings feature live music, folk groups, and dance parties, while a dedicated area with games and entertainment is set up for children. During the festival, it is also possible to take guided tours of the murals created as part of the "La collina delle Fiabe" (The Hill of Fairy Tales) project, which has transformed Riparbella into a charming painted village. A craft market completes the experience, making the event a perfect opportunity to discover the village and its traditions.
Beyond its convivial nature, the festival maintains a strong spirit of solidarity: in several editions, the Pro Loco has donated part of the proceeds and organized fundraisers to support local causes and families in need. This added value makes the Riparbella Wild Boar Festival much more than just a gastronomic event; it is an appointment that strengthens community bonds and enhances the identity of this corner of Tuscany.
The event is held in Riparbella (PI), at Parco Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa, over two weekends in November. For updated schedules, evening programs, and mural tour bookings, please check the official Pro Loco Riparbella channels.
The 54th Riparbella Wild Boar Festival takes place in 2026 over two weekends in November, from the 6th to the 8th and from the 13th to the 15th, at Parco Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa. The Pro Loco Riparbella is confirmed as the organizer, with the food stand open for dinner on Friday and Saturday, and for lunch and dinner on Sunday.
As per tradition, the menu revolves around Maremma wild boar: pappardelle and lasagna with ragรน, polenta, stew, and roasts, accompanied by wines from the Pisan hills. The schedule of musical evenings, children's entertainment, and guided mural tours will be announced on the official Pro Loco channels. For updates on times and the program, please check the association's website and Facebook page.
Riparbella can be reached by car from the SS1 Aurelia (Cecina exit) by continuing inland along the SP13, or from the FI-PI-LI expressway. The nearest train station is Cecina, on the Tyrrhenian line, from where you can continue by car or local transport. The reference airports are Pisa and Florence.
The food stand generally opens for dinner on Friday and Saturday, while on Sunday it is open for both lunch and dinner. Precise hours are published each year on the Pro Loco channels.
The marquee is heated and covered, so the festival takes place even in case of bad weather. It is recommended to book tables for the busiest weekends and to combine your visit with a discovery of the village's murals.
