Three days of flavor and tradition in the historic center of Campiglia Marittima
The Schiaccia Campigliese Festival is one of the most anticipated autumn events in the Val di Cornia. It takes place in the heart of the medieval village of Campiglia Marittima, in the province of Livorno, southern Tuscany, and revolves around the traditional pastry that gives the event its name: the schiaccia campigliese, a crispy, fragrant cake prepared according to a recipe handed down through generations, enriched with lard, pine nuts, and spices.
For three days, spanning the end of October and the beginning of November, the cobbled streets and squares of the historic centerโwith its beating heart in Piazza della Repubblicaโtransform into a journey of taste and tradition, drawing visitors from across the Livorno coast and the Maremma hinterland.
While the schiaccia campigliese remains the undisputed star, the food stalls set up along the village streets offer the best of seasonal country cooking:
A journey into the most authentic flavors of the Maremma, where the bounty of the woods and the harvest season are showcased on the plate.
The festival is a true community celebration. Craft markets and exhibitions line the streets, while live music and street performances by the Musicanti di Maremma accompany your stroll through the shops. For children, there are traditional games, circus arts workshops, shows, and entertainment.
The Friday opening coincides with Halloween celebrations, featuring square entertainment and the popular Murder Mystery Dinner (by reservation). Over the weekend, visitors can also explore the Rocca Museum, the Museum of Sacred Art, and the Bonsai Exhibition, or discover the secrets of the local pastry during a dedicated talk show.
Perched on a hill overlooking the Gulf of Baratti and the Tuscan Archipelago, Campiglia Marittima is one of the most charming villages on the Etruscan Coast. Visiting the festival is the perfect excuse to lose yourself in the medieval alleys, the fortress, and the scenic viewpoints of this town in the province of Livorno, for a weekend that combines great food, culture, and local tradition.
The dates for the 2026 edition are confirmed: the festival will be held from Friday, October 31 to Sunday, November 2, 2026 in the historic center of Campiglia Marittima (LI). The detailed program, including stall hours, shows, and initiatives, will be announced by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event.
Based on previous editions, the event spans three days: Friday is dedicated to Halloween celebrations with square entertainment and the Murder Mystery Dinner (by reservation); Saturday and Sunday feature food stalls along the village streets, craft markets, exhibitions, live music, and street performances by the Musicanti di Maremma, as well as the Children's Festival and the talk show on the schiaccia campigliese.
