Four days of the Tropics in Livorno

Tikitaly is the largest European gathering dedicated to Tiki culture and tropical mixology. The event takes place in Livorno, Tuscany, on the iconic Terrazza Mascagni, with Surfer Joe serving as the headquarters—a venue that has been a landmark for the international surf and tiki scene for years, thanks to its founder, Luca Valdambrini. For four days, the Livorno seafront turns into a Polynesian oasis, filled with vibrant colors, Hawaiian fabrics, carved tumblers, and the scent of rum.

What is Tiki culture?

Tiki culture emerged in the United States in the 1930s, when venues like Don the Beachcomber and Trader Vic's began reinterpreting the imagery of the South Seas: exotic decor, wooden statues inspired by Polynesian deities, exotica music, and rum-based cocktails served in carved mugs. Tikitaly brings this Polynesian Pop aesthetic back to life, blending history, craftsmanship, music, and top-tier mixology.

Bartenders and bars from around the world

The heart of the festival lies in its 60+ international bartenders and guests, hailing from global cocktail culture hubs such as Los Angeles, Miami, London, Paris, Las Vegas, and Barcelona. The festival bars serve classic tropical drinks: Mai Tai, Zombie, Hurricane, Painkiller, and many other signature creations. Alongside the mixology, the public can watch carvers—artisans who live-sculpt traditional Polynesian statues and wooden mugs.

Music, dance, and seminars

The atmosphere is defined by live surf and exotica music, DJ sets, and Polynesian dance performances. There is no shortage of seminars and masterclasses led by big names in international mixology, focusing on Tiki history, techniques, and products. The event concludes with the Tiki Master Cocktail Competition, the challenge that crowns the best tropical bartender among the finalists.

Organized by the Surfer Joe team together with Daniele Dalla Pola, Paul Campese, and Emanuele Codispoti, and supported by the Municipality of Livorno, Tikitaly has become an internationally renowned appointment that attracts enthusiasts and professionals from all over Europe and beyond.
