Wine and music in the cellars of the Terricciola hills
Cantine in Musica is one of the most original offerings of the summer in Terricciola, a small municipality in the Province of Pisa nestled in the wine-growing hills of Tuscany, just a few kilometres from Pontedera and the Valdera area. The festival, curated by the Duo Reminescente, runs from late May to September and stops at a different local winery each time, selected from the most scenic spots in the municipality.
The idea behind the festival is as simple as it is refined: each evening pairs a wine tasting with a musical programme specifically designed for that glass. The pieces, composed and selected to accompany the wine's aromas, structure, and character, establish a true dialogue between sound and taste. The result is an immersive experience where music becomes a key to interpreting the wine, and the wine reveals new nuances to the listening experience.
The heart of the festival lies in the wineries of the Terricciola area, which open their doors to the public to host the evenings. Participating estates include Pieve de' Pitti, Tenuta di Podernovo, Terre di Guidoreste, Sojana Wine in Soiana, and the Vallorsi winery, with the calendar closing in the evocative spaces of the Badia di Morrona. Each location adds its own landscape identity to the experience: vineyards, terraces, and ancient villages serve as a natural backdrop for the concerts.
Terricciola has always been linked to wine culture: its hilly territory, well-suited to viticulture, is dotted with historic cellars and new wine-making ventures that have made quality their hallmark. It is no coincidence that the village is also known for its events dedicated to wine tourism, from the Notti del Vino (Wine Nights) to open cellar days. Cantine in Musica follows this path, enhancing local food and wine excellence through cultural moments capable of uniting residents, enthusiasts, and visitors.
The event is part of the rich summer programme of the Municipality of Terricciola, which in the same period also hosts the Tursenum Festival, curated by the Mascagni Conservatory of Livorno, featuring signature concerts in the most evocative historical sites. Together, the two festivals create a summer where music meets the landscape and every event becomes an opportunity for discovery amidst nature, culture, and conviviality in the Pisan hills.
The 2026 edition of Cantine in Musica confirms the travelling formula that has made the festival famous: five appointments distributed between late May and September, each hosted in a different winery in the Terricciola area. Under the artistic direction of the Duo Reminescente, each evening proposes a dialogue between wine and music, with pieces selected to accompany the wine featured at each stop. The events begin in the late afternoon and are free to enter, with mandatory reservation.
The festival is curated by the Duo Reminescente. The calendar may include additional stops in other local wineries (including Sojana Wine in Soiana): it is recommended to check for updates with the Municipality of Terricciola.
Terricciola is located in the Valdera area, in the Province of Pisa. By car, it can be reached from the SGC FI-PI-LI road, taking the exit towards Pontedera and then continuing on the provincial roads towards the hills. The nearest train station is Pontedera-Casciana Terme, from where you can continue by car or local bus.
All evenings are free of charge, but reservation is mandatory. To book, you can call +39 324 9511491 or email [email protected].
The events are held in the late afternoon, starting around 5:30 PM, at the local wineries. Comfortable clothing and footwear suitable for rural and hilly settings are recommended.
