A summer festival in the heart of Tuscany

Every year, from June to September, the Municipality of Cascina turns its historic centre into an open-air stage with Estate a Cascina, a summer festival also known by its historic name, Metti una sera a Cascina. It is a true hub of events that spans the entire summer season, stretching from Corso Matteotti to the town squares and outlying hamlets, with a programme that blends live music, theatre, sports, cultural gatherings, and popular traditions.

The three pillars of the festival

The event is historically structured around three distinct themes, designed to engage different audiences and spaces within the Pisan town:

• Cascina in Corso: events held in front of the Town Hall and along Corso Matteotti, featuring a small stage for entertainment talks, theatrical shows, and music.
• Cascina Europa: institutional meetings and in-depth discussions hosted in the town's open-air spaces.
• Cascina a Teatro: drama and performance events tied to the city's theatrical vocation, home to the Città del Teatro and the Fondazione Sipario Toscana.

Traditions, music, and local hamlets

Alongside the three main pillars, the Cascina summer is enriched by numerous popular events: the music festival of the Corale Polifonica Cascinese, the street dinner in Marciana, the vintage and sports car rally along Corso Matteotti, open-air cinema in various neighbourhoods, and traditional fairs that animate hamlets such as Navacchio, Zambra, San Casciano, and Latignano. The festival thus embraces not only the municipal seat but the entire territory, celebrating village life and the local network of associations and Pro Loco groups.

The Notte Rosa, the main event

The beating heart of the Cascina summer is the Notte Rosa, scheduled for September 12, 2026, in the historic centre. The evening transforms Corso Matteotti, Piazza dei Caduti, and the surrounding streets into one big party with musical stages, roving performances, dance, markets, street food, rides, and entertainment for all ages. The season closes at the end of September with the Sports Festival, dedicated to the local sporting community.

An event for the whole territory

Estate a Cascina is promoted by the Municipality of Cascina, in the province of Pisa, with the support of the Chamber of Commerce of North-West Tuscany, which has allocated over 75,000 euros for the 2026 summer season to a calendar of themed evenings spread across the area. The festival confirms Cascina's reputation as one of the most vibrant centres in the Pisan area during the summer months.
