A unique dialogue between architecture and visual art at Castello Pasquini in Castiglioncello
Castello Pasquini in Castiglioncello, a coastal village within the Municipality of Rosignano Marittimo in the Province of Livorno (Tuscany), returns to the cultural spotlight with "Fuksas Paladino – Enlightened Architects and Artist," running from April 3 to September 20, 2026. The exhibition proposes a unique dialogue between the language of architecture and visual arts, bringing together internationally renowned architects Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas and artist Mimmo Paladino, a key figure of the Italian Transavanguardia movement.
Set on the first floor of the castle and curated by Stefania Campatelli and Flavio Pannocchia, the exhibition guides visitors through an itinerary that weaves together drawings, models, sculptures, paintings, stage designs, and design objects. The common thread is the subtle boundary between artistic expression and built space, explored by two creative universes that meet and respond to one another.
The initiative is promoted by the Culture Office of the Municipality of Rosignano Marittimo together with Fondazione Armunia, under the patronage of the Tuscany Region and with the support of Fondazione Livorno. The exhibition aligns with Castello Pasquini's role as a cultural hub for Castiglioncello, already the historic home of the Inequilibrio Festival dedicated to theater and dance, and contributes to enhancing contemporary artistic heritage on the Etruscan Coast.
Overlooking the sea and nestled in a centuries-old park, Castello Pasquini is one of the symbols of Castiglioncello, a village beloved by the Macchiaioli painters in the late 19th century. Visiting the exhibition is also an opportunity to discover a charming corner of the Tuscan coast, with its pine forests, hidden coves, and a long artistic tradition that spans from landscape art to the contemporary.
The exhibition opens on April 3 and continues until September 20, 2026, in the halls of Castello Pasquini in Castiglioncello (Rosignano Marittimo). The itinerary brings together models of famous architectures such as the "Nuvola" in Rome, paintings by the Fuksas duo dedicated to Hamburg, pictorial and scenic works by Mimmo Paladino, and the "Short Stories" collection. The heart of the exhibition is the silver chessboard, a world premiere, with pieces signed by the two architects contrasted with those modeled by Paladino.
The event is promoted by the Municipality of Rosignano Marittimo with Fondazione Armunia and the support of Fondazione Livorno.
