The summer season of free-entry events in the Municipality of Vecchiano
The Vecchiano Summer Festival is the summer program organized by the Municipality of Vecchiano, a town in the Province of Pisa nestled at the foot of the Monte Pisano, just a short distance from the coast and the Migliarino San Rossore Massaciuccoli Park. Every year, from July to September, the squares of the main town and its hamlets (Vecchiano, Nodica, Migliarino, Filettole) are filled with cultural appointments, shows, and festive moments, all strictly with free admission.
The strength of the Vecchiano Summer Festival lies in the variety of its offerings, which successfully combine big names from the Italian theater scene with the energy of local associations. Over the years, the festival has hosted events that have now become tradition:
The Vecchiano summer traditionally opens with the Palio Rionale Vecchianese, a competition between the four historic districts — Vecchiano Centro, Vecchianello all'Estero, San Frediano, and Fornace Castello — consisting of games, sports, colors, and solidarity. A highly popular event that, with its inaugural pageant, trials, and grand finale, ignites local pride and officially kicks off the season of events.
Experiencing the Vecchiano Summer Festival also means discovering a territory with a strong Tuscan identity: the village at the foot of the Monte Pisano, the pine forests and wetlands of the San Rossore Park, the Serchio river, and the proximity to Pisa and the Tyrrhenian coast. An ideal setting for those seeking authentic events far from the crowds, in the spirit of the hospitality and traditions of the Vecchiano community.
The Vecchiano Summer Festival 2026 confirms its appointment with the season of free-entry events in the Municipality of Vecchiano, in the Province of Pisa.
Opening the festival is the Palio Rionale Vecchianese, in its 23rd edition, scheduled from June 1st to July 4th, 2026: inaugural pageant, trials from June 8th to 27th, the "Little Palio" in Nodica on June 19th, and the grand finale on July 4th, with the challenge between the districts of Vecchiano Centro, Vecchianello all'Estero, San Frediano, and Fornace Castello.
The detailed program of cultural, musical, and entertainment events for the months of July, August, and September will be announced by the Municipality of Vecchiano closer to the events. It is recommended to check the official municipal channels for updates.
Events take place mainly in the center of Vecchiano (Piazza Pasolini, Piazza Garibaldi, Civic Tower Garden) and in the hamlets of the Municipality, in the Province of Pisa.
By car: Pisa-Aurelia expressway (SS1), exit Migliarino/Vecchiano. By train: Migliarino station on the Pisa-Viareggio line, or Pisa Centrale station with a connecting bus. By plane: Pisa "Galileo Galilei" Airport, approximately 15 km away.
All events of the Vecchiano Summer Festival are free and open to the public. For some events (such as the White Dinner or evenings with special guests), mandatory booking may be required.
Full program and updates are available on the Municipality of Vecchiano website.
