Piedmontese beef meets local excellence in Cavour
Terre e Cibo is the event that, in the heart of the town of Cavour (Province of Turin, Piedmont), celebrates the deep connection between environmental quality and food quality. Born from the evolution of the historic Cavour Carne fair, which reached its twenty-fifth edition in 2025, the new festival broadens its scope: while the prized Piedmontese beef remains the star, it now shares the stage with native breeds, short-supply-chain products, and the entire gastronomic heritage of the Pinerolo area.
The event takes place over the weekend around April 25th, coinciding with Liberation Day, bringing the historic center of Cavour to life: from Piazza Solferino and Piazza III Alpini for the livestock exhibition, to the marquee in Piazza Sforzini for workshops, and the Palagusto dedicated to tastings and meals. For two days, the village at the foot of the Rocca transforms into a grand showcase of flavors, traditions, and rural culture.
The heart of the event is the promotion of the Piedmontese cattle breed and its prized Fassona meat, alongside the recovery of two historic species linked to the territory: the white hen, now known as the Gallina di Saluzzo, and the Cavour black pig. The regional livestock exhibition, organized in collaboration with the Piedmont Regional Breeders Association, brings together breeders and selected livestock, complemented by an agricultural machinery show and the Campagna Amica educational farm.
The program weaves together festive moments and opportunities for in-depth exploration. There is no shortage of major dining events, such as the Piedmontese Lunch and evenings dedicated to barbecues and dinners with breeders, organized by ProCavour together with local butchers. Alongside the meals, the event features:
Alongside the meat, Terre e Cibo showcases the gastronomic richness of the Pinerolo area and Piedmont: apples, PGI hazelnuts, rosemary-infused lard, cured meats, breadsticks, cheeses, and artisanal pasta. A festival that, under the patronage of the Piedmont Region and the Metropolitan City of Turin, combines the pleasure of dining with reflection on the future of agriculture and the value of the short supply chain.
The first edition of Terre e Cibo was held in Cavour on April 25-26, 2026, inheriting the legacy of the Cavour Carne fair and expanding its content. In the squares of the historic center, the regional livestock exhibition joined the Grand Spring Fair, featuring around a hundred stalls and stands from local producers.
Among the most anticipated moments were the Piedmontese Lunch on Saturday, the evening barbecue, and the Sunday Agricultural Coffee session on livestock sustainability, followed by dinner with the breeders. There was also space for workshops against food waste and the recovery of the Saluzzo white hen and the Cavour black pig, under the patronage of the Piedmont Region and the Metropolitan City of Turin.
By car: Cavour can be reached via the A6 Turin-Savona motorway (exit Carmagnola or Marene) and the main road towards Pinerolo and Saluzzo. By train: the reference station is Pinerolo, connected to Turin, with a bus connection to Cavour. By plane: Turin-Caselle airport is about an hour away.
Admission to the event is free. Activities take place over the two days of the April 25th weekend, generally from morning until evening. Meals and some tastings require payment, and booking with ProCavour is recommended where possible.
We recommend combining your visit to the festival with a climb up to the Rocca di Cavour and exploring the village's historic center.
