Six nights of music, sports, and Piedmontese tradition in the village of Cavour
The Babano Festival is one of the most beloved and long-standing village festivals in the Pinerolo area. It all began in 1957 in the small village of Babano, within the municipality of Cavour, in the Province of Turin, as a way to foster community spirit. Since then, it has become an unmissable appointment in the first week of September, transforming a 14,000 m² open field into a vibrant event space featuring a large covered marquee with over 1,000 seats.
The heart of the festival lies in its six nights, each with a unique atmosphere. Friday and Saturday nights ignite the stage for younger crowds with DJ sets and dance music, while other evenings feature dance orchestras, live bands, and performances, following the best Piedmontese traditions of ballroom and folk music. Sunday is dedicated to daytime activities, including sporting events like fun runs and cycling and motorcycle rallies that bring the streets of Babano to life.
People come to Babano above all for the food. The menu highlights local culinary traditions: Piedmontese appetizers, agnolotti, local cheeses, and grilled meats paired with regional wines and beers. The star of the show is the Babamburger, a burger made with locally sourced Piedmontese beef, which has become a true trademark of the event over the years.
Since 2009, the Babano Festival has evolved into an Eco-Festival: biodegradable tableware, waste sorting, and a concrete commitment to sustainability are part of every edition. Organized by the Amici di Babano association, the festival bridges generations and keeps the community spirit that inspired its creation alive, remaining a landmark event for Cavour and the entire southwestern Piedmont region.
The festival takes place in the event area of the village of Babano, just a few kilometers from the center of Cavour, at the foot of the famous Rocca. Admission to musical evenings is generally free, while the food service is paid according to the proposed menu.
