The summer stop of the Slow Food farmers' market in the Cimbrian village of Luserna
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Slow Food Earth Market of the Altipiani Cimbri is a traveling agri-food market that, during the warmer months, visits the small towns of the Trentino plateau: Lavarone, Folgaria, Luserna, and the Vigolana area. The Luserna stop is a unique summer event: the village, one of the smallest in Trentino and the last Cimbrian linguistic island in the region with just 250 inhabitants, welcomes the market in Piazza Comune, right in the heart of the town.
Staying true to the Slow Food philosophy of good, clean, and fair food, the market brings together exclusively local producers who sell the fruits of their labor directly. Stalls are filled with mountain cheeses and dairy products, honey, preserves, seasonal mountain vegetables, and typical products of the plateaus, most notably the Porro di Nosellari, a local variety listed in the Slow Food Ark of Taste. The supply chain is extremely short: buyers meet the growers and breeders directly, ensuring a transparent and personal relationship.
The market has its roots in a solidarity purchasing group formed in the summer of 2020, which has since evolved into a true Slow Food Community. The Luserna stop, the only summer date in the Cimbrian village, is designed to reach the many tourists who choose the Altipiani Cimbri for its cool climate, pastures, and hiking trails. It is the perfect opportunity to discover authentic mountain cuisine and support small-scale farms in a fragile and precious territory.
Located in the Autonomous Province of Trento, in Trentino-Alto Adige, Luserna is a natural balcony overlooking the Valdastico, surrounded by mountain huts, meadows, and forests. Visiting the market also means connecting with Cimbrian culture—the ancient Germanic language still spoken in the village—and a high-altitude landscape of rare beauty. The market is traditionally held in the morning in Piazza Comune and may be cancelled in case of bad weather: it is advisable to check for updates on the organizers' channels.
In the summer of 2026, the Slow Food Earth Market of the Altipiani Cimbri is expected to return to Luserna, in Piazza Comune, for its only summer date in the Cimbrian village. As of today, the specific date for the 2026 Luserna event has not yet been officially published by the organizers. The seasonal market calendar continues across Lavarone, Folgaria, Serrada, and the Vigolana area with stalls from local producers. For the exact date in Luserna, it is recommended to check the channels of the Slow Food Community of the Altipiani Cimbri.
Luserna can be reached by car from the Valdastico (A31 / Val d'Astico motorway exit) or from the Valsugana by heading up towards the plateaus. The market takes place in Piazza Comune, in the town center.
Free admission. The market is usually held in the morning (approximately 9:30 AM – 1:00 PM). It may be cancelled in case of rain.
