The grand summer market of Scena, featuring farm-fresh produce, local crafts, and South Tyrolean specialties
The Schenner Markt is the grand summer market that brings the center of Scena (Schenna) to life every year. Perched on the sunny slopes overlooking the Merano basin in the province of Bolzano, in the heart of Trentino-Alto Adige, the village offers a stunning backdrop. For an entire day, the village streets and Raiffeisen Square are closed to traffic, transforming into a vibrant path of stalls, scents, and music, where residents and visitors meet to shop, taste, and experience the authentic atmosphere of a South Tyrolean village market.
The day opens at 10:00 AM with the barrel tapping (Fassanstich) and the official inauguration of the market, a traditional ritual that kicks off the festivities. From that moment until evening, the village remains one big open-air party, with stalls set up throughout the historic center.
The day is accompanied by live music and entertainment spread throughout the streets. Great attention is paid to families: a rich children's program is planned, featuring entertainment, a bouncy castle, a climbing wall, and a goal-shooting game, so that even the little ones can enjoy a day of fun in complete safety while the adults browse the stalls.
Organized by the Scena Tourist Board, the Schenner Markt is one of the most anticipated summer events in the village calendar and the entire Merano region. It represents an ideal opportunity to discover the flavors and traditions of the area, support local producers, and immerse yourself in South Tyrolean hospitality, all within a landscape framed by vineyards, apple orchards, and the peaks surrounding Scena.
On August 20, 2026, the center of Scena will host the new edition of the Schenner Markt, from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The day opens with the barrel tapping (Fassanstich) and the official inauguration of the market.
Along the village streets and on Raiffeisen Square, you will find local traders, farmers with fresh farm produce, artisans, and food stalls from Scena's local businesses serving typical specialties. For families, there is a rich program with entertainment, a bouncy castle, a climbing wall, and a goal-shooting game. Admission is free.
The Schenner Markt takes place over a single day, from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, in the center of Scena.
Village center of Scena (Schenna) and Raiffeisen Square, 39017 Scena (BZ), province of Bolzano. On the day of the event, the center is closed to traffic.
Since the center is closed to cars, we recommend using the bus: line 231 stops at the "Scuola" or "Bivio Scena/Verdins" stations, both about a five-minute walk from the center. Scena can be reached from Merano in a few minutes by car or bus.
Access to the market is free, with no reservation required.
