About Tannenbaum & Glühweintraum

On the Marlinger Berg, during the Advent weekends, the Weinreichhof transforms into a cozy Christmas corner. Among the locally grown Nordmann firs, the small Tannenbaum & Glühweintraum market welcomes families and visitors with mulled wine, hot soups, a petting zoo for children, and specialties cooked on a wood-burning stove. A genuine, rustic atmosphere, far from the crowds of the larger markets, immersed in the South Tyrolean landscape.

An Advent market among the firs of the Marlinger Berg

The Tannenbaum & Glühweintraum is a small, authentic pre-Christmas event held on the Marlinger Berg, in the municipality of Marling, in the province of Bolzano (South Tyrol). The meeting point is the Weinreichhof, at Bergerstraße 21, the farm of Helmuth Hofer, a Christmas tree grower who opens his doors to visitors every year during the Advent weekends.

Nordmann firs and rustic atmosphere

The heart of the event is the sale of fresh Nordmann firs, grown directly on the Marlinger Berg. Choosing your own Christmas tree among the rows of the farm, with a view stretching over the Merano basin, is an experience that combines the tradition of the South Tyrolean mountains with the pleasure of Christmas anticipation. The atmosphere is that of a genuine village event, organized with the participation of the Gruppe Berg of the Marling Volunteer Fire Brigade (Freiwillige Feuerwehr Marling).

What to taste

The food selection focuses on the warm flavors of the Alpine winter. Highlights include:

  • Hot soups (warme Suppen) to warm up between strolls;
  • the unique Christbaum-Burgers, hamburgers named after the Christmas tree;
  • Homemade Krapfen, a typical treat of Tyrolean tradition;
  • in the afternoon, Muaskochn, a rustic dish cooked on a wood-burning stove according to South Tyrolean custom;
  • the essential mulled wine (Glühwein), which gives the event its name.

An event for families

The Tannenbaum & Glühweintraum is also designed for children, who can enjoy the small petting zoo (Streichelzoo) set up at the farm. This makes the event an ideal excursion during the Advent period for those seeking a more intimate and authentic alternative to the large Christmas markets of Merano and Bolzano.

When

The event is traditionally held on the third and fourth weekends of Advent, opening at 10:00 AM. It is an opportunity to experience the magic of Christmas immersed in the landscape of the Marlinger Berg, among vineyards, forests, and the mountains of South Tyrol.
