The Peasant Dinner of Folgaria

The Peasant Dinner in the center of Folgaria is one of the most beloved summer events on the Alpe Cimbra, in the heart of the Municipality of Folgaria, in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). For one night, the town's historic center turns into a large open-air restaurant: local restaurants and taverns open their doors along the streets, welcoming residents and tourists in a convivial atmosphere filled with the scents and flavors of the mountains.

A food and wine journey through Trentino tradition

The core of the event is a food and wine trail winding through the town center, designed to help visitors rediscover the most iconic dishes of local cuisine. Specialties featured during the evening include:

• Canederli, the bread dumplings that are a symbol of Trentino cooking;
• Carne salada and speck, typical local cured meats;
• Tortel di patate, a crispy grated potato fritter;
• Vezzena cheese, a historic product of the plateau;
• Tonco del Pontesel and Trentino barley soup, traditional peasant dishes;
• and to finish on a sweet note, strudel and Sacher cake.

Everything is accompanied by local wines, craft beers, and Trentino grappas, for a culinary journey that tells the story of the gastronomic identity of the Trentino mountains.

Music, folklore, and families

Beyond the food, the Peasant Dinner is a town festival dedicated to tradition and joy. The evening is enlivened by the Folgaria Folk Band, which parades through the streets and performs an engaging concert. There is no shortage of traditional games, entertainment, pony rides, and activities designed for the fun of families and children.

Organized by the Voglia di Folgaria Consortium in collaboration with the Alpe Cimbra Tourist Board and the Municipality of Folgaria, the Peasant Dinner is designed to promote typical products, cuisine, and local hospitality. It is the ideal occasion to experience the center of Folgaria in a festive guise, combining gastronomic discovery with the pleasure of an evening outdoors among the Trentino Prealps.
