The gourmet walking tour in the hamlet of San Chiaffredo, between Busca and Tarantasca
The Mangia e Cammina of San Chiaffredo is a gourmet walking tour that takes place in the hamlet of San Chiaffredo, a small agricultural village shared by the municipalities of Busca and Tarantasca, in the heart of the Cuneo plains in Piedmont. Organized by the local Pro Loco with the support of local ACLI branches, the event has become one of the most anticipated spring traditions in the area, attracting hundreds of walkers from across the province of Cuneo.
The format is that of a multi-course gastronomic stroll: participants start in groups at regular intervals, following a loop that winds through the farmsteads and countryside of the hamlet. Along the way, there are six tasting stops, each dedicated to a specific course: appetizer, first course, sorbet, main course, dessert, and a final coffee. The menu highlights traditional Piedmontese products and cuisine, all enjoyed in a relaxed, convivial atmosphere among the fields.
Born from the former SanciaCammina, the Mangia e Cammina has successfully reinvented itself while preserving its community spirit. The daytime edition covers a route of about seven kilometers, ending in Piazza Don Demaria, while the more recent version introduced an evening format on a shorter loop, followed by live music at the local sports field. The massive success, with tickets selling out in just a few hours, confirms how deeply rooted this event is in the local territory.
Beyond the excellent food, the Mangia e Cammina is a way to discover an authentic corner of the Cuneo region: the farmsteads, country lanes, and the life of a small hamlet that, for a day, turns into one large open-air dining room. It is a family-friendly event, with menus designed for children, and serves as a wonderful example of how local culinary traditions and community associations can create authentic, engaging celebrations.
The 2026 edition of the Mangia e Cammina of San Chiaffredo introduced an important novelty: the evening format. On Saturday, May 23, participants, divided into ten groups with staggered departures from 6:00 PM to 8:15 PM, walked a loop of about 4.5 kilometers through the farmsteads of the hamlet, shared between Busca and Tarantasca.
Along the route, six gastronomic stops followed one another with appetizer, first course, sorbet, main course, dessert, and a final coffee. The evening concluded at the hamlet's sports field with a concert by Roberto Molinaro. With nearly 700 participants, including about 90 children's menus, and registrations sold out in 24 hours, the new evening version was a great success.
Departures in groups from 6:00 PM to 8:15 PM. Loop route of about 4.5 km through the farmsteads with six stops: appetizer, first course, sorbet, main course, dessert, and coffee. Followed by a concert by Roberto Molinaro at the hamlet's sports field.
The hamlet of San Chiaffredo is located between Busca and Tarantasca, in the province of Cuneo. By car, it is easily reached via the provincial road connecting Busca to Tarantasca; ample parking is available near the meeting point. The nearest train station is in Busca, on the Cuneo-Saluzzo line.
Participation requires registration, and spots are limited and tend to sell out quickly. The estimated cost is approximately 25 euros for adults (drinks included) and 12 euros for children. Registration can be completed online via the dedicated link or in person at locations specified by the organizers.
We recommend wearing comfortable shoes suitable for walking on country roads. The event generally takes place even in case of bad weather.
