The autumn food and wine walk through the woods of Capriana
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Magnatonda de Caoriana is one of the most beloved food and wine walks of the Trentino autumn. It takes place in Capriana, a small village in the Cembra Valley overlooking the Fiemme Valley, in the province of Trento, in the heart of the Trentino-Alto Adige region. The event, whose name in the local dialect literally evokes the idea of "eating while walking" around Caoriana (Capriana), is organized by the Pro Loco Capriana Da l'Aves al Corn APS in collaboration with local associations.
The route is a 14 km loop starting from Piazza Roma, in the center of Capriana, and winds through the village streets and the trails that cross the woods up to the borders with Anterivo and the Monte Corno Nature Park. The trail is designed to be suitable for everyone: families can even tackle it with trekking strollers, following the slow pace of the gastronomic stops.
Along the way, participants encounter seven food stands that accompany the entire day, from breakfast to chestnuts. The stages follow the rhythm of a true peasant festival:
All products are zero-mile and come from the valley's local supply chains, with a special focus on sustainability: each participant receives a reusable kit of plates and cutlery to reduce waste.
Magnatonda is not just about good food. Along the route, moments of entertainment and culture alternate: theatrical performances with the Feisbuk Sisters, demonstrations by the Volunteer Firefighters, the recreational stand of the Monte Corno Nature Park, and guided tours to symbolic local landmarks such as the small church of Carbonare and the Mulino della Meneghina. It is a way to discover the history, craftsmanship, and popular traditions of this corner of Trentino.
Magnatonda de Caoriana is a limited-capacity event with mandatory booking: registration includes all gastronomic stops and activities along the route. The format, now in its many consecutive editions, has made this appointment an autumn classic for lovers of slow tourism, nature, and the genuine flavors of the Trentino mountains.
The Magnatonda de Caoriana usually returns in autumn, on a Sunday in October, among the streets and woods of Capriana, in the Cembra Valley. The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced by the organizers: as soon as they are confirmed, this page will be updated with the program, times, and booking methods for the 14 km loop food and wine walk.
