The Herbsttage im Südtiroler Unterland, presented under the TerrAromen brand, is a food and wine festival that celebrates autumn in the South Tyrol Lowlands, in the heart of South Tyrol. For several weeks between late October and early November, the wine-growing villages around Cortaccia sulla strada del vino (Kurtatsch an der Weinstraße) come alive with tastings, guided walks, themed dinners, and cultural gatherings. The initiative is organized by the Tourismusverein Südtiroler Unterland in collaboration with the Südtirols Süden tourist cooperative.
The common thread of the event is the bond between the territory and its most iconic products. Cortaccia is one of the southernmost and sunniest municipalities in South Tyrol, boasting over two thousand hours of sunshine per year and evening breezes that favor structured and aromatic red wines: here, the Kellerei Kurtatsch (Cortaccia Winery) produces some of the most acclaimed labels in the area, from Pinot Noir (Blauburgunder) to Lagrein. Alongside wine, a special role is reserved for the prized olive oil of Cortaccia, one of the northernmost in Europe, and the typical dishes of the South Tyrolean autumn.
The events are distributed between Cortaccia/Kurtatsch, Cortina sulla strada del vino/Kurtinig, and the hamlet of Graun. The program typically includes:
The Herbsttage im Südtiroler Unterland are an invitation to discover the South Tyrol Lowlands at a leisurely pace outside the peak tourist season, when the vineyards turn into the colors of autumn. It is the ideal opportunity to combine gastronomy, culture, and landscape in a corner of the Province of Bolzano and the Trentino-Alto Adige region where farming tradition and wine culture have coexisted for centuries.
