A farmers' market at the foot of the Latemar

The Nova Ponente Farmers' Market, known locally as Bauernmarkt, is the weekly event that transforms the village square of Nova Ponente/Deutschnofen, in the Province of Bolzano, into a vibrant meeting point for producers and visitors during the warmer months. Every Tuesday morning, next to the parish church, farmers from the Val d'Ega (Eggental) offer fresh, regional products sold directly by those who grow and craft them.

The market is dedicated to food lovers and those who appreciate mountain farming culture. The stalls primarily feature:

• Seasonal fruit and vegetables grown on local farms;
• Alpine cheeses, dairy products, and other South Tyrolean specialties;
• Homemade bread, pastries, and baked goods;
• Honey, jams, syrups, and mountain herbs;
• Small handmade specialties and local delicacies.

Everything comes directly from the producer: it is the perfect opportunity to shop consciously, discover the authentic flavors of South Tyrol, and chat with the valley's farmers.

A mountain village a stone's throw from Bolzano

Nova Ponente sits on a sunny plateau in the Val d'Ega, at the foot of the Latemar massif and just a short distance from Bolzano. It is one of the most characteristic villages in the Val d'Ega holiday area, a destination for hiking, cycling, and summer tourism. The Tuesday market fits perfectly into a day in the mountains: a stroll through the stalls in the morning, then off to the trails and mountain huts of the Dolomites.

A staple of the summer season

The Bauernmarkt is not just an occasional event but a weekly tradition that accompanies the entire summer and autumn season in the Val d'Ega, from the first warmth of July to the colors of October. It is organized by the Val d'Ega Tourist Board and is held in the center of Nova Ponente, in a setting that combines the authenticity of the products with the atmosphere of a South Tyrolean village.
