The Termeno Dumpling Festival

The Knödelfest of the ASV Tramin Volleyball is the summer gastronomic festival organized by the volleyball section of the ASV Tramin sports association in the municipality of Termeno sulla Strada del Vino (Tramin an der Weinstraße), in the province of Bolzano, in the heart of South Tyrol. The absolute star is the Knödel (dumpling), one of the iconic dishes of South Tyrolean cuisine, prepared by club volunteers in many variations, from traditional recipes to more creative ones.

Dumplings in all their varieties

At the covered Festplatz in Termeno, guests will find a rich assortment of dumplings, including:

• Speck dumplings (Speckknödel), the most classic recipe in South Tyrol;
• Cheese dumplings (Käseknödel);
• Red beet dumplings (Rübenknödel), with an intense color and delicate flavor;
• Sweet apricot dumplings (Marillenknödel), the delicious finale to the evening.

Accompanying the dishes are wines from the wineries of Termeno, home to the famous Gewürztraminer, as well as refreshing drinks for every taste.

Music and tradition with the Schuhplattler

The evening is enlivened by great music and a highly anticipated highlight: the performance of the Traminer Schuhplattler, the traditional dance group from Termeno, who bring the authentic South Tyrolean spirit to the stage with their characteristic dance involving rhythmic hand-clapping and boot-slapping. The entertainment is designed for all ages, in a convivial atmosphere that invites meeting, sharing, and the pleasure of being together.

A village festival on the Wine Road

The Knödelfest is a typical village festival (Vereinsfest) linked to the world of South Tyrolean sports associations: the proceeds support the activities of the ASV Tramin volleyball section. Held under the covered Festplatz, it takes place even in case of bad weather and is an opportunity to discover Termeno, one of the most picturesque villages on the South Tyrolean Wine Road, amidst vineyards, historic wineries, and the charm of the Basso Atesino landscape.
