About Giny

Giny is the Italian festival dedicated to gin and juniper, bringing the stunning Piazza Maggiore in Mondovì—located in the heart of the Monregalese area near Cuneo—to life. Featuring guided tastings, masterclasses, a large Gin Market with dozens of craft producers, themed talks, a gourmet food area, and evenings filled with music and DJ sets, the event celebrates Piedmontese distilleries and local botanicals. With free admission and a sustainable, inclusive atmosphere, it has become a benchmark event for enthusiasts, the curious, and lovers of mindful drinking.

Giny, the gin festival in the heart of Mondovì

Set against the evocative backdrop of Piazza Maggiore in Mondovì Piazza, Giny is the Italian festival dedicated to gin and juniper. Born in the town of Mondovì, in the province of Cuneo, as an evolution of the former "Ginitaly," the festival has quickly established itself as one of the most anticipated and innovative food and wine events in Piedmont, successfully blending the culture of distillation, regional promotion, and a shared sense of community.

A journey through Piedmontese spirits and botanicals

The common thread of Giny is the story of craft gin and the botanicals that define its character, starting with the juniper that grows in the mountains of the Cuneo area and Piedmont. Dozens of national and international producers and distillers gather in the square, with a special focus on mountain gins and native raw materials. The labels presented are numerous, with a strong emphasis on quality and supply chain sustainability.

What to expect at the festival

  • Gin Market: A producer market where you can taste and purchase the finest craft gins.
  • Tastings and masterclasses: Guided sessions to discover aromas, recipes, and distillation techniques.
  • Talk Area: Meetings with experts, producers, and journalists dedicated to the culture of mindful drinking and environmental protection.
  • Food Area: Gourmet specialties and food offerings, paired with typical local products.
  • Music and evening events: DJ sets and parties that bring the square to life after sunset.

An event that helps the region grow

Giny is more than just a tasting event; it has become the driving force behind a true industry. During the 2026 edition, the Consortium for the Protection of Piedmontese Gin Producers and Distillers was established, a sign of the maturity of a rapidly evolving sector that sees Mondovì as its point of reference. Organized by the City of Mondovì with the support of the Piedmont Region, the Province of Cuneo, and numerous local partners, the event focuses on being sustainable, energetic, and inclusive, attracting enthusiasts from across the region and beyond.

Strolling through the Gin Market stalls with Mondovì's famous Baroque square in the background, attending a masterclass, or getting swept up in the evening music is an experience that combines taste, culture, and conviviality in the heart of the Monregalese.

Giny — edition 2026

The second edition of Giny brought Piazza Maggiore and the Printing Museum of Mondovì to life from May 29 to June 1, 2026. Featuring over 50 Piedmontese gin labels, a Gin Market, a gourmet food area, a Talk Area, and evening music, the event concluded with the founding of the Consortium for the Protection of Piedmontese Gin Producers and Distillers, confirming its status as one of the region's most innovative food and wine events.

The second edition of Giny took place in Mondovì from May 29 to June 1, 2026, between Piazza Maggiore and the Printing Museum Gardens. The festival opened on Friday the 29th with the Sunset Vibes live party and a DJ set by Milanese duo Merk & Kremont, before hitting its stride over the weekend with the Gin Market, guided tastings (which sold out), and the food area. Among the most anticipated moments was the Saturday Blue Fluo Party, with the square illuminated in juniper blue. The Talk Area, curated by journalist Marcello Pasquero, hosted producers and experts discussing distillation, botanicals, and mindful drinking culture. The edition closed with the announcement of the new Consortium for the Protection of Piedmontese Gin Producers and Distillers, directed by Luigi Barbero.
