The mountain potato celebration in the heart of Valle Gesso
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Entracque Potato Festival, officially the Potato and Organic Products Fair, is the early September event that brings the small town of Entracque to life, located in the province of Cuneo in the heart of Piedmont. Tucked away among the alpine valleys of the Cuneo region, at the entrance to the Gesso Valley and at the gates of the Maritime Alps Park, the village dedicates an entire weekend to its most representative product: the mountain potato, grown on high-altitude terraces.
The delicious heart of the event is the Entracque Cujette, the typical local potato-based gnocchi, which are the stars of the tasting menus served by reservation. At the food stalls and local restaurants, you can sample gnocchi, soups, savory pies, baked potatoes with mountain herbs, and numerous creative recipes, accompanied by alpine cheeses, honey, and local berries. A significant portion of the event is reserved for organic products and the certified excellence of the Park.
Along the streets of the historic center, you will find the producers' market featuring farmers and artisans with stalls of local specialties. The evenings are enlivened by popular tribute band concerts, while children can enjoy workshops, entertainment, and dedicated activities, including fun comic-book drawing classes. There are also informative sessions on environmental protection, curated by the Maritime Alps Protected Areas.
The final day intertwines the festival with popular devotion: on Sunday, the patronal feast is celebrated with Holy Mass and a procession in honor of the patron saint Saint Antoninus the Martyr, according to a tradition deeply felt by the Entracque community. It is the moment when the fair shows its most authentic soul, blending faith, village identity, and love for the land.
Visiting Entracque during the Potato Festival also means discovering one of the most picturesque villages in the Gesso Valley, an ideal base for excursions into the Maritime Alps Park. The event, organized by the Municipality in collaboration with the Maritime Alps Protected Areas, is held indoors in case of rain to ensure the celebration continues regardless of the weather.
Entracque is located in the Gesso Valley, in the province of Cuneo. By car from Cuneo, it takes about 30 minutes following signs for Borgo San Dalmazzo and Valdieri-Entracque. The nearest train station is in Cuneo, which is connected to the valley by bus services.
The Cujette tasting menus are served by reservation. In recent editions, the tasting menu was priced at approximately 25 euros for adults and 15 euros for children under 12. For reservations and information, contact the Tourist Office, Piazza Giustizia e Libertà, tel. +39 0171 978616.
Admission to the fair and market is free. We recommend comfortable clothing for walking in the historic center and a jacket for the evenings, given the alpine altitude.
