The autumn kingdom of over 600 pumpkin varieties, in the heart of the Cuneo Langhe
Perched among the rolling hills of the Province of Cuneo, on the edge of the Langhe, the village of Piozzo has only a few hundred inhabitants, but for one weekend a year, it becomes the Italian reference point for pumpkin enthusiasts. The Pumpkin Fair, established in 1994 and organized by the Pro Loco of Piozzo, has grown to attract over 50,000 visitors, turning a local farming tradition into one of the most beloved autumn events in Piedmont.
The heart of the event is the extraordinary display of more than 600 varieties of pumpkins of every shape, color, and size: from giant ornamental ones to tiny decorative ones, from edible species to botanical curiosities from all over the world, all grown right in the Piozzo area. The pumpkins are arranged on restored vintage farm wagons and placed along the streets and squares of the historic center, creating a scenic route that has become the symbol of the fair.
Alongside the exhibition, the village streets are filled with a rich market featuring producers, artisans, and food and wine stands. Naturally, the pumpkin is the star of the table: risottos, cream soups, desserts, doughnuts, chocolates, and gastronomic specialties allow you to discover a thousand variations of this vegetable. There is no shortage of creative workshops, free tastings, a technical-scientific exhibition, and entertainment, in a festive atmosphere that engages both adults and children.
A historic milestone marks the 2026 edition: thanks to the recognition by the Piedmont Region, the event has changed its name and officially become the National Pumpkin Fair. It is the culmination of over thirty years of work by the community of Piozzo and the Pro Loco, who have successfully promoted a simple agricultural product until it became an icon of the Cuneo territory. The thirty-third edition thus confirms Piozzo's role as a national reference for pumpkin culture, bridging agriculture, food and wine, and the popular traditions of the Langhe.
With free admission and a program spread throughout the village, the Piozzo Pumpkin Fair is the ideal destination for an autumn trip in Piedmont: a stroll through the colors of autumn, the flavors of local cuisine, and the joy of a village festival that has grown big.
The 2026 edition of the Piozzo Pumpkin Fair is the first to bear the title of National Fair, following the recognition granted by the Piedmont Region announced in 2025. The event, organized by the Pro Loco of Piozzo, returns to enliven the streets of the historic center with the famous exhibition of over 600 pumpkin varieties arranged on restored farm wagons, the producer market, pumpkin-based food stands, and numerous activities for families and children.
The detailed program for the 33rd edition, including times, workshops, competitions, and shows, will be published by the Pro Loco of Piozzo in the weeks leading up to the event. Based on recent editions, the fair includes the inauguration and the arrangement of pumpkins on vintage wagons, the opening of the market in the historic center, creative workshops, free tastings of pumpkin-based products, a technical-scientific exhibition at the Albarosa viewpoint, and entertainment and music throughout the two days.
Updates on the program, times, and guests will be available on the official website fieradellazucca.it and on the event's social media channels.
