About Mushroom Exhibition

Every year in mid-September, Ceva transforms into Italy's mushroom capital. Established in 1962, the Mushroom Exhibition showcases over 400 mycological species classified by experts from the Ceva Mycological Group within the medieval arcades of Via Marenco. Starting in 2026, the event officially becomes an International Exhibition: a recognition honoring decades of scientific rigor, local cuisine, markets, and entertainment in the heart of the Cuneo province.

A Ceva tradition spanning over sixty years

In the town of Ceva, located at the crossroads of the Tanaro and Cebano valleys in the province of Cuneo, the mushroom is more than just forest produce: it is an identity. The Mushroom Exhibition was born in 1962 from the passion of a group of nature lovers and, within a few decades, became the most important mycological event in Piedmont. In 2004, the Piedmont Region recognized it as a Regional Market Exhibition, and starting with the 2026 edition, the event earned the title of International Fair, as decreed in the updated Piedmontese trade fair calendar.

The arcades of Via Marenco, the heart of the exhibition

The festival centers around the medieval arcades of Via Marenco, in the heart of Ceva's historic center. Here, under the ancient vaults, the "B. Peyronel - E. Rebaudengo" Ceva Mycological Group sets up an annual scientific display featuring over 400 mushroom species, all fresh, gathered primarily in the woods of the Cebano area and classified according to strict criteria. Alongside the fresh specimens, freeze-dried mushrooms are also displayed, preserved using equipment the group has utilized for educational and research purposes since 2010.

Much more than a mycological exhibition

The Mushroom Exhibition is a weekend that weaves together nature, gastronomy, and culture. Surrounding the exhibition are markets of local products, mushroom-based street food and kitchens, live music performances, scientific conferences, family entertainment, and outdoor activities. Every year, the event attracts over 10,000 visitors from across Italy and abroad, confirming the deep bond between Ceva and its "king of the woods".

Towards an international scope

The 2026 upgrade opens the exhibition to regional funding for Major Events and an even wider audience. For the town of Ceva and the entire province of Cuneo, this represents a premier tourist showcase, capable of promoting Piedmont's agri-food excellence well beyond national borders.

Mushroom Exhibition — edition 2026

The 65th edition of the Ceva Mushroom Exhibition, the first with the official title of International Fair, is scheduled from September 19 to 21, 2026, in Ceva's historic center. Three days of mycological displays, markets, local cuisine, and shows, preceded by a scientific conference and enhanced by an evocative dawn concert.

The 2026 edition marks a historic turning point for Ceva: the 65th Mushroom Exhibition becomes the first to bear the title of International Fair, a recognition granted by the Piedmont Region. The heart of the event remains the mycological exhibition under the arcades of Via Marenco, accompanied by markets, mushroom-based kitchens, and cultural initiatives spread throughout the historic center.
