A festival celebrating the Quagliano grape

The Quagliano Grape Festival is the event that best captures the identity of Costigliole Saluzzo, a village in the Saluzzo area of the province of Cuneo, in Piedmont. The absolute star is the Quagliano grape, an indigenous variety grown on the hills surrounding the town, used to produce a sweet, aromatic, and slightly sparkling wine traditionally associated with conviviality and the local territory. Recognized as a regional festival, it is among the oldest and most deep-rooted events in the Cuneo area: the 2025 edition marked its 88th year, a testament to a continuity spanning generations of local residents.

What happens in town

During the festival, the historic center comes alive from morning until night. The streets and squares host markets featuring local produce and handicrafts, while historic buildings such as Palazzo Sarriod De La Tour and Palazzo Giriodi host art and photography exhibitions. There is no shortage of fruit and vegetable stalls, Quagliano wine tastings, and Piedmontese culinary specialties prepared by the Pro Loco and local associations.

Organization and the territory

The event is organized by the Pro Loco of Costigliole Saluzzo in collaboration with the municipal administration and local associations, from the Alpini to cultural groups. The festival is also an opportunity to discover Costigliole Saluzzo and the Varaita Valley, a land of castles, noble palaces, and vine-covered hills at the foot of Monviso. Visiting the Quagliano Grape Festival means immersing yourself in an authentic celebration where wine becomes a pretext to celebrate the community, rural memory, and the pleasure of being together.

The festival is traditionally held in the latter part of September, often spanning the last Sunday of the month, with a format that extends over several days between Friday and Sunday.
