About Voxonus Saluzzo

The Voxonus Festival brings a full season of Baroque and Neoclassical music to Saluzzo, in the province of Cuneo, performed on period instruments with historically informed practice. Produced by the Savona Symphony Orchestra and conceived by Claudio Gilio, the festival enlivens the city of the Marquisate from May to December with concerts in the Sala Verdi of the Scuola APM Foundation and in the historic churches of the town center, ranging from Vivaldi and Mozart to the Christmas Te Deum.

A widespread Baroque festival in the heart of Piedmont

The Voxonus Festival is one of the most important Italian events dedicated to early, Baroque, and Neoclassical music performed on period instruments. Produced by the Savona Symphony Orchestra and created by Claudio Gilio, the festival takes place every year from May to December with over sixty concerts distributed between Liguria and Piedmont. The Saluzzo stage, in the province of Cuneo, has become one of the most anticipated events on the calendar: a true musical season that spans the entire second half of the year.

Collaboration with the Scuola APM

Since 2025, the festival has been linked to the Scuola APM Foundation of Saluzzo, a musical training center that hosts many of the concerts in its Sala Verdi, on Via dell'Annunziata. The agreement goes beyond the concerts: it has given rise to high-specialization courses in early music, entrusted to Voxonus musicians, and offers young students an authentic platform for growth and professional placement. The musical direction of the orchestra is entrusted to Filippo Maria Bressan.

The festival venues in Saluzzo

The concerts take place in some of the most evocative locations in the historic center of Saluzzo, the ancient capital of the Marquisate:

  • Sala Verdi of the Scuola APM Foundation — main venue for chamber music events;
  • Church of San Bernardino and Church of San Giovanni — for orchestral concerts;
  • Saluzzo Cathedral — setting for the traditional Christmas concert.

A journey from Vivaldi to Charpentier

The Saluzzo program ranges from the great Italian and European Baroque to early Classicism: Vivaldi and his famous L'Estro Armonico, the string quartet of the late 18th century, soundtracks reinterpreted by the Crossover Trio, and the monumental Te Deum by Marc-Antoine Charpentier performed in the Cathedral as a Christmas concert. All the festival's ensembles — Voxonus Orchestra, Voxonus Quartet, Voxonus Quartet Moderno, and various others — alternate on the city's calendar.

An event accessible to everyone

Voxonus Festival concerts in Saluzzo are free to attend with voluntary donations, with reservations recommended. The festival is realized with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Piedmont Region, the CRT and CRC Foundations, the APM Foundation, and the Municipality of Saluzzo, representing a rare example of high musical culture made fully accessible to the local community in the Cuneo area.

Voxonus Saluzzo — edition 2026

The 15th edition of the Voxonus Festival returns to Saluzzo with six concerts spanning the entire second half of 2026: from Vivaldi's L'Estro Armonico to Charpentier's Te Deum in the Cathedral, including string quartets and film soundtracks. All events are free with voluntary donations, in collaboration with the Scuola APM Foundation.

The 15th edition of the festival, produced by the Savona Symphony Orchestra, confirms the collaboration with the Scuola APM Foundation and proposes a program of six concerts in Saluzzo from May to December, held between the Sala Verdi of the APM, the churches in the center, and the Cathedral. The program ranges from the great Italian Baroque to early Classicism, featuring all the festival's ensembles.
