Great Baroque and Neoclassical music in the city of the Marquisate
The Voxonus Festival is one of the most important Italian events dedicated to early, Baroque, and Neoclassical music performed on period instruments. Produced by the Savona Symphony Orchestra and created by Claudio Gilio, the festival takes place every year from May to December with over sixty concerts distributed between Liguria and Piedmont. The Saluzzo stage, in the province of Cuneo, has become one of the most anticipated events on the calendar: a true musical season that spans the entire second half of the year.
Since 2025, the festival has been linked to the Scuola APM Foundation of Saluzzo, a musical training center that hosts many of the concerts in its Sala Verdi, on Via dell'Annunziata. The agreement goes beyond the concerts: it has given rise to high-specialization courses in early music, entrusted to Voxonus musicians, and offers young students an authentic platform for growth and professional placement. The musical direction of the orchestra is entrusted to Filippo Maria Bressan.
The concerts take place in some of the most evocative locations in the historic center of Saluzzo, the ancient capital of the Marquisate:
The Saluzzo program ranges from the great Italian and European Baroque to early Classicism: Vivaldi and his famous L'Estro Armonico, the string quartet of the late 18th century, soundtracks reinterpreted by the Crossover Trio, and the monumental Te Deum by Marc-Antoine Charpentier performed in the Cathedral as a Christmas concert. All the festival's ensembles — Voxonus Orchestra, Voxonus Quartet, Voxonus Quartet Moderno, and various others — alternate on the city's calendar.
Voxonus Festival concerts in Saluzzo are free to attend with voluntary donations, with reservations recommended. The festival is realized with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Piedmont Region, the CRT and CRC Foundations, the APM Foundation, and the Municipality of Saluzzo, representing a rare example of high musical culture made fully accessible to the local community in the Cuneo area.
The 15th edition of the festival, produced by the Savona Symphony Orchestra, confirms the collaboration with the Scuola APM Foundation and proposes a program of six concerts in Saluzzo from May to December, held between the Sala Verdi of the APM, the churches in the center, and the Cathedral. The program ranges from the great Italian Baroque to early Classicism, featuring all the festival's ensembles.
All concerts are free with voluntary donations; reservations are recommended.
Baroque Architectures: the Estro and the Rule — selection of concertos from L'Estro Armonico op. 3 by Antonio Vivaldi:
In the morning (11:00 AM) a lecture-concert dedicated to schools, at the same venue.
Conversations in Paris — the Voxonus Quartet on a journey through the 18th-century string quartet featuring Bruni, Cambini, and Mozart.
Invisible Paths — the Voxonus Quartet Moderno with a 20th-century repertoire.
Beyond the Screen — the Crossover Trio with film soundtracks.
Storms, Spirits, and Divertimenti — the Voxonus Orchestra conducted by Filippo Maria Bressan, with music by Telemann, Francesco Salieri, Mozart, and Boccherini.
Te Deum by Marc-Antoine Charpentier — the festival's Christmas concert.
Concerts are held mainly in the Sala Verdi of the Scuola APM Foundation (Via dell'Annunziata 1b, Saluzzo) and in the historic churches of the center (San Bernardino, San Giovanni) and the Cathedral.
Saluzzo can be reached by car from the A6 Turin-Savona motorway (Marene exit) or via the state roads from Cuneo and Turin. By train, Saluzzo station is connected to the regional line; alternatively, you can get off at Savigliano or Cuneo and continue by bus.
Free admission with voluntary donation. Reservations are recommended by calling (also via WhatsApp) +39 340 6172142 or by emailing [email protected].
The Saluzzo stage runs from May to December, with evening concerts generally at 9:00 PM.
