When wine becomes holy: two weeks dedicated to Nosiola and Vino Santo Trentino DOC in the Valle dei Laghi
DiVinNosiola is one of the most iconic food and wine events in Trentino: two weeks dedicated to Nosiola, the region's only indigenous white grape variety, and the rare Vino Santo Trentino DOC, a meditation passito wine that is also a Slow Food Presidium. The event takes place in the heart of the Valle dei Laghi, between the municipality of Madruzzo (Autonomous Province of Trento) and the nearby villages of Lasino, Pergolese, Sarche, Santa Massenza, and Lake Cavedine.
Vino Santo is born from a long drying process of Nosiola grapes on arèle, traditional wooden racks, which lasts about six months and concentrates the fruit's natural sugars. The most symbolic moment of the festival is the Rite of Pressing, celebrated during Holy Week: the crushing of the dried bunches marks the transition from drying to vinification and serves as a moment of gathering and sharing among the valley's winemakers.
The beating heart of the event is the Nosiola Express, the Vino Santo tourist train that departs from the Sarche parking lot, a hamlet of Madruzzo. It is a circular route with four stops and six wineries visited, winding between the castles of Toblino and Madruzzo and historic villages: a gourmet journey featuring cellar tours, tastings of Nosiola and Vino Santo, and traditional Trentino dishes prepared by chefs from the Slow Food Alliance.
Alongside the train, the calendar offers masterclasses with nationally renowned experts and sommeliers, gourmet dinners, showcooking, wine tourism excursions, and a visit to the Casa Caveau del Vino Santo. The event is organized by the Association of Winemakers of Vino Santo Trentino D.O.C., based in Santa Massenza, together with the Trentino Wine Consortium, the Wine and Flavors Route, and Garda Trentino. DiVinNosiola is the perfect opportunity to discover an authentic corner of Trentino, where time and patience are still fundamental ingredients of fine wine.
The 16th edition of DiVinNosiola was held from March 27 to April 10, 2026, in the Valle dei Laghi, between the municipality of Madruzzo and the surrounding villages. Two weeks dedicated to Nosiola and Vino Santo Trentino DOC, a Slow Food Presidium, with a program that combined tastings, culture, and fine dining.
Highlights included the Rite of Pressing during Holy Week and the Nosiola Express, the food and wine tourist train departing from Sarche towards the valley's wineries and castles. The calendar featured masterclasses at Palazzo Roccabruna in Trento, dinners with exceptional chefs, and the participation of the Trentino Wine Consortium.
The Valle dei Laghi can be reached by car from the A22 motorway exit of Trento Centro (SS45bis towards Sarche) or from Riva del Garda. The starting point for the Nosiola Express is the Sarche parking lot, a hamlet in the municipality of Madruzzo.
Many events are free with reservation; the Nosiola Express costs approximately €60, masterclasses range from €25 to €30, and dinners start at €70. Booking is recommended for all events.
