About Azzurro Food

In the heart of Sciacca, the world capital of anchovies and home to Sicily's second-largest fishing fleet, the Azzurro Food Festival celebrates blue fish, Mediterranean cuisine, and marine conservation every August. Four days of tastings, cooking shows, masterclasses with chefs, talk shows, live music, and performances bring Piazza Angelo Scandaliato and the historic center to life, turning this thermal spa town into a hub of taste and maritime culture.

The first Italian festival dedicated to blue fish

The Azzurro Food Festival is the first Italian event entirely dedicated to blue fish, Mediterranean cultures, and environmental and marine protection. The festival takes place in the historic center of Sciacca, in the province of Agrigento, one of the iconic cities of Sicilian maritime tradition. With the island's second-largest fishing fleet and its title as the world capital of anchovies, Sciacca is the perfect setting to showcase the gastronomic and cultural identity of the Mediterranean.

Four areas for four days of celebration

The festival is organized into several sections that intertwine throughout the evenings. Azzurro Live brings national-level singers, bands, DJ sets, and cabaret shows to the stage; Azzurro Academy hosts masterclasses, cooking shows, and talk shows with chefs, food bloggers, and seafood industry experts; the street food and village areas bring together local producers, fishermen, and restaurateurs. The beating heart of the event is the picturesque Piazza Angelo Scandaliato, overlooking the sea, with the streets of the historic center animated by tastings and initiatives.

Taste, culture, and marine conservation

Azzurro Food is more than just a food and wine festival: every edition features meetings and debates on environmental sustainability and marine protection, involving the Fisheries District, journalists, chefs, and industry operators. Tastings highlight sardines, anchovies, mackerel, and other blue fish species, paired with typical Sicilian products, from extra virgin olive oil to traditional local pastries.

Sciacca: thermal waters, sea, and archaeology

The event is promoted by Futuris in collaboration with the Municipality of Sciacca, the Pro Loco Sciacca Terme, and under the patronage of the Sicilian Region. It is traditionally held in August, during the height of the Sciacca Summer, in a city located between the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, the Selinunte archaeological park, and the Belice Valley, offering visitors a vacation filled with great food, culture, thermal spas, and the sea.

Azzurro Food — edition 2026

The thirteenth edition of the Azzurro Food Festival is scheduled in Sciacca from August 20 to 23, 2026, centered in Piazza Angelo Scandaliato. Four days dedicated to blue fish, Mediterranean cuisine, and marine conservation, featuring tastings, cooking shows, masterclasses with chefs, talk shows, live music, and performances. The detailed program and artist line-up will be announced in the weeks leading up to the event.

The 13th edition of the Azzurro Food Festival will be held in Sciacca from August 20 to 23, 2026, confirming the summer appointment in the historic center of the Agrigento city. For 2026, the festival will again be divided into its traditional sections: Azzurro Live with concerts and shows, Azzurro Academy with masterclasses, cooking shows, and talk shows, and the areas dedicated to street food and local producers.

The artistic program and guests for the 2026 edition have not yet been officially announced: details on the musical line-up, guest chefs, schedules, and concert tickets will be communicated by the organizers in the weeks preceding the event via the official website and the event's social media channels.
