Concerts, theatre, and sunrise performances among the temples of the Selinunte Archaeological Park
Selinunte Summer is the summer festival of music, theatre, and culture that brings the Selinunte and Cave di Cusa Archaeological Park to life in the territory of Castelvetrano, in the province of Trapani. Promoted by the Park in collaboration with CoopCulture and the Regional Department of Cultural Heritage, the event invites spectators into one of the most extensive and fascinating archaeological sites in the Mediterranean basin, where Doric temples, the Acropolis, and ancient stone quarries serve as a natural backdrop for live performances.
The program unfolds across several areas of the park: the majestic Temple E dedicated to Hera, Temple F, the Acropolis, the Baglio Florio with its open-air theatre, and the evocative Cave di Cusa, where the marks of ancient stone extraction are still visible today. These sites host evening concerts, sunset performances, and the famous sunrise concerts, moments where music accompanies the rising sun before the temples.
Selinunte Summer brings together numerous festivals and productions into one grand season. Notable historical sections include:
More than just a season of shows, Selinunte Summer is a project dedicated to heritage enhancement: live culture becomes a tool to rediscover one of the symbols of Magna Graecia and Sicilian history. Each year, the event attracts thousands of spectators from across the island and beyond, confirming Selinunte as a cultural tourism destination of national significance.
Events are spread throughout the entire summer, from early July to September, featuring special events and civic commemorations that weave together art and memory. For the Castelvetrano area and all of Western Sicily, Selinunte Summer is a highly anticipated appointment, capable of uniting the beauty of the temples with the emotional power of the live arts.
